How much variation in templates?
 

In the past I didn't submit sites real regular so having templates pretty similar didn't matter.

But now that I have been submitting a little more often I am starting to worry about template variety.

How much change is enough if you are submitting almost every day?

Do warning pages have to be changed or can they stay pretty much the same?

Currently I do not change my warning page any more than background color, fonts and the ads on it. So they always look pretty much the same. But I do mix up the main and gallery pages. So I was wondering if this was enough?

i read an article by greenguy once that really made good sense (dont ask me the url cuz i would never remember where the fuck i saw it LOL) he said to make a completely different site every day for a month and save them as templates. that way every month you submit 30 new sites overall.

i took this one step further tho and save each template page so that i have 30 index templates, 30 main page template, 30 of each gallery templates, then i mix and match them so that index page template 15 with main page template 24 with gallery templates 2 and 19 etc...

by doing that i now have an increadible number of template page combinations that will prolly never get old.

amadman - oddly enough, warning pages that all look the same will get you banned faster than KatVixen's boos go onto MrMaryLou's head at a convention suite :)

The warnign page is the 1st thing we see. This sticks in our heads. So if we keep seeing the same one with slight variations (link color, font) we will eventually know that it is one of "your" sites & then that's when you get into trouble :(

With my recip table and warning it is hard to mistake my sites for anyone elses but mine.

I will try and see if I can mix it up some. Or just not submit as much so they don't get to common.

I have been working on something like that lately with a bunch of parts like puzzle pieces. But I currently only have 1 recip table and warning box.

One of the main things that tip us off are the recip tables. (especially with more & more of those helpr scripts that generate the recips for you)

So one way to fool us (I can't believe I just typed that - LOL) is to mix up the recips you're using as well as the way you lay them out. For example, make 1 warnign page using 10 recips in a 5x2 table, the next using 9 recips in a 3x3 table, the next using 12 in a 4x3 table.....ect.

I just hope the damage isn't already done because I have a couple that didn't list my last site yet.|sad|

that is one of the reasons we took the recip tables off of submitool. we give webmasters several options of reciprocals from the linklist and suggest to them to use different ones. that way they are still hand submitting everything but reviewers dont think that its the same webmaster submitting multiple sites on the same day - each webmaster makes their own recip tables... we just make it easier to to :)

i have one big file with all my receips tables, everytime i make a free site i switch the recieps, its just copy and past the receip of the wanted linksite. i wouldnt like it either to be on the same receip tables everytime a person submit a site.

Okay I give up.....so it is better to mix up the recips????? My main problem I have with that is that it has taken forever it seems getting everyone situated on pages where they seem to be happy with who they are listed with as well what page they are listed on. Between some LL's only wanting to be listed on specific pages, some LL's only wanting to be listed with certain other LL's, trying to spread everything out between everyone, there doesn't seem to be much room for maneuvering as far as mixing it all up.

Hmmmmmm.....might have to try laying them out differently though. Good food for thought..........

Jaden:hi: i have seperate files, people who want on index page, people who dont want to see hardcore banners on the warning page. Its normal if you got a linksite you dont want to be on the same receip table everytime, At least i think it is normall, its not hard to mix them up, i know some want to have their receip with certain linksites but thats your choise if you wanna submit to them or not.

this also concerns me....GG, I have 4 designs that I use and submit 4 times / week. so each day will be a different design and I use 2 sponsors in 2 diff categories.

Should I be making more designs, can this get me banned or not listed?

Is this thread about free sites that submit under different domains multiple times? Or someone who tweaks a gallery a bit and submits again to get double listings?

I don't follow why you'd care if it was one of his sites.

If I have a domain and spawn a bunch of free sites off that domain...

...as long as the free sites themes are unique and the warning page matches a theme- what's the issue about slight variations on the warning page?

well picture this, you have a link site and 3 persons submit the same site everyday different pics but same catergory different text they do this for 3 weeks (and believe me people do) would you like that on your links site all the same layout in the catergories? and as a linksite owne you loose bookmarkrs that way.......i can understand

OK. So, essentially LL owners get SPAMMED by people wanting their sites listed and they back up the LL owners que by swamping the LL with submissions.

Sorta like GG's "Throw enough shit on the wall and eventually something will stick" approach- but in this case submit too much crap and you will just be black listed.

grand - if you submit 4 times a week, then I'd say you need 20 different templates - the general rule of thumb is don't use the same template in the same 30 days :)

Alphawolf - most people that build free sites on a regular basis re-use the designs (or templates) over again sometime down the road. Using them over & over will get you banned, but using them once a month will not get noticed :)

And yes, if you submit too much crap, you will get blacklisted :(

Just wonderin'- but why does it annoy you if they use designs over and over? If the pics are different that's all the surfer cares about.

Then again I only see what you have approved...not what you have rejected. :)

How many submissions you average per month?

I just read all your rules and am spending a lot of time clickin' around your list to see what makes the grade.

It Seems Whenever somebody gets in trouble for templates they always post 3 or 4 urls for samples and i always check them out and they do look different to me so one would think that the link list is getting to picky "BUT" What did the other 8 or 9 sites look like hmmm

So my warning pages go like this for good reason:) sponsor ad on top:) Should be kind of soft and on top, People with slow dial up will get a sponsor banner first And If they dont want to wait for the rest of page to load they can click and go to sponsor or just leave and find a faster loading page thats why your warning page should be very light

Then Comes Title of site

then some kind of warning text or scroll box

then recips

then small sponsor button

then enter and exit must be clear cut, reason:) if you was reviewing sites and you had to look and guess which text link takes you to the main page then your declined that fast

so if i make all of my warning pages like that in the order above
how long will it take to get in trouble for templates

is changing recipes order good enough as i read in another thread

also changing text color or front size would only make the link owners mad

so when your on the hot seat for templates my solultion for the problem is to stay away and hit some other link list up for awhile and come back with some thing different

because i think that if you submit 1 site a day for 2 months no shit that you are going to be guilty for templates Because there is only so many ways to make a 4 page free site

That's exactly what had me scratching my head. As strict as most LL rules are, there are only so many ways to skin the warning page.

BTW, good timing on the post as I just got finished creating a photo album/thumbs of all my non nude pics. This is preparation for many entrance/warning pages. Must sleep. |goodnight

I have recently been forced to stop accepting sites from two of my better submitters because their sites were the same templates over and over again. Yes, the background colors changed, and yes, the titles changed, but the site was basically the same site.

This is even worse for one of them, because it is a smaller cat with maybe 30% of the sites being his. I have emailed both of them without an answer, which makes me wonder.

Even with 10 different templates, they would have gone a much longer time before I got annoyed with this.
