Enter Here
I'm suddenly seeing more and more free submitters using the word Enter in their text links and banners. Was it just me, or hadn't we all pretty much agreed that Enter was to be used only for the free site's ENTER link and that using it on links to paysites is deliberately confusing/misleading the surfer?
|
Short answer - Yes :)
|
I'm seeing the same here. Stuff like "Click here to enter paysitename.com" on a gallery page is still ok with me but not on the index...
I'm also seeing the long awaited return of "Continue >>" :( |
yep, seen a few of those, even on the index pages. I'm not so strict with it on the galleries either, but I hate seeing a big block of unlinked text with just the word 'enter here' linked to the tour underneath it.
and I've seen 'continue' too. Actually, come to think of it I've been seeing more blindish type links in general lately. Maybe we're just all getting a bit lazy again & need a little kick in the ass :D |

And to answer UW - Yes, thats what I have been told. Its just a big no no on the index page. |
Skippy ENTER HERE to be confused.
|
Obviously, I consider it unacceptable on the index page, but I'm referring to it's use on ALL pages of a free site. I'm seeing crap like "Enter Here to See More Hot Teens" on gallery pages. I think Enter should only be used on an index page and only as the entrance to that site.
Fonz, I rejected that CONTINUE>>> link a couple of times from one submitter. Fortunately, I was able to blacklist her a few days later for a wholly different reason. :D (I think that continue link is copied from some old HFSs.) |
I'll decline enter that isn't followed by a clear indication of a paysite. I've been seeing more of the continue stuff as well and think that's even more sneaky.

I agree with you on the index page and not using ENTER HERE on it other than to get into the freesite... But, what's the problem with "Enter Here to See More Hot Teens" on a gallery page? I understand this link is blind, but what if it said "Enter Here to See More Hot Teens at Domain.com!"? Then that is ok right? If not, I'm not following your logic on this. |
I always thought enter was OK on gallery pages. Unless you make all custom banners for your freesites then it is pretty hard not to have banners with enter on them in your galleries unless you repeat the same banners over and over.
|
I think I’ve been guilty of using some of those banners UW has been talking about.
One problem is that so many sponsors have Enter on the damn things. Not a good excuse but hey |huh The other problem is I get in a hurry to produce as many as I can in my limited time and just space out |loony| I’ll be more aware now. Until then I’ll except my beatings but only if done by Sue or Ponygirl, in high heels . . and nylons . . and those sexy latex girdle things with the cone shaped boobs . . and an eye patch and . . . what was the subject again? |
Just to be clear. I will be submitting a site today that has the word Enter on a non-index page for a very good reason*, and the site was made prior to this thread so I'm not just being an ass like normal. |couch|
* the fucking paysite name has the word 'enter' in it, wasn't that well planned :D * |
I'm blacklisting this thread because the title is a blind link :D
In all seriousness, you might as well go to each submitters house, sit them down & explain it to them, because |buddy| knows 1/2 of them don't bother (or can't) read the rules. |
I always look even at the banners if they have the enter word in them. Its all about reading the rules and some basic experience.I hope that these submitters will read this thread and change their habbits :)
|
I don't think I've been guilty of this on my freesites, but sometimes when the text is flowing maybe?... No, I don't think so.
I agree that "Enter" should only be used in one place - to enter the freesite. It's one of the basic rules that I do my best to comply with, even going as far as editing the word out on a banner if I think the banner is worth using. :) |
After reviewing my stats I wonder why I even bother putting sponsor links on my galleries ;-)
|
No "enters" on the index page has been the rule for a long time.
But are you guys seriously saying you want to expand the rule to no enters anywhere in the site? That's just fuckin nuts. Fortunately, I seriously doubt you'll get the big guys to go along with this. Except maybe hoes. |

I've checked the rules at the major LLs and I don't see where they directly address this issue. Just about everyone indicates no blind or misleading links which would definitely kick any kind of enter other than the "true enter" on an index and make it kind of gray on the main page. I don't see that "enter here for xxx.com" or "enter here for more xxx" on a gallery page is blind or misleading. With that being said...this thread did get me to change my last freesite galleries which said "enter below for more xxx" (unlinked). I left the banners on the galleries that say "enter here" though... I think if the LL owner consensus is that "enter" should only be used from the index to the main page and/or from the main page to the galleries then that should be better spelled out in the rules. I will gladly oblige...

Inside the free site, an "enter" then means to enter the sponsors tour and take a look at the sponsors offerings. I myself don't use 'enter' in any of my sales texts - but after the index page, banners with "enter" on them are completely legitimate, because they aren't deceptive and don't mess with the linklists traffic, as some linklist owners have asserted they do on the index page. And if I wanted to say "Enter" in my sales text after the index page, it's still my position that it's not deceptive, and doesn't interfere with the linklists interests, because the surfer has already clicked on the "Enter" link on the index, and knows he is inside the freesite. |

So it really isn't my intention to create a more difficult working atmosphere for honest webmasters, but rather an attempt at clarification and sensing what others feel about the use of "Enter". |
I mostly agree with Bill, though "Enter For More Free Shit" anywhere would be deceptive text and blind. Enter on a banner would be ok, because it's a banner and every surfer knows it's going somewhere else. Text saying "Enter Here To See All Of Model X" would be fine with me anywhere but on the index page.
But I'm a slacker in a lot of ways :) |
Personally, as a small LL owner, my take:
index page = 'enter' solely used as entrance to the freesite internal pages, enter is ok as long as it isn't blind, so 'Enter here for anal movies' is a no go, unless the sponsor site is called Anal Movies. As a submitter, I use 'enter' only on the index page as per usual, but lately have been using 'Enter Paysite Name' as a link on internal pages. I don't see anything wrong with that :) |

What Jel stated summed up what was once explained to me when I started with freesites. I personally do not use it anywhere but the index(I think), but it was an option to use it elsewhere as long as its not blind.
