Looking to get in the game. blogspot.com ?

I see a lot of popular adult blogs which use blogspot.com or blogger. I'm considering getting into this. I have my own domains and such, but ideally I'd like to start off using a third party utility without having to do anything to set this all up. Also as a way of diversifying.

Would you reccomend starting an adult blog on blogspot.com?

If not, who would you reccomend?

Thanks.

I'd stay very very far away from blogger with anything adult - they will delete it eventually - there's good ones like thumblogger.com, xlogz etc that are targeted for adult

Like msacras said, unless your going softcore stay away from blogger.

But why would you want to start on a freehost if you have your own domains and hosting. Thumbblogger while an ok service doesnt translate to anything you could have on your own. So what you build there...stays there and it's not like having used the TB interface it would make using a true blogging script any easier.

There are a few that are running a multi-user version of WP but I wouldn't know if the database was transferable and not all the available WP plugins will work there.

The amount of storage and BW you would use doing it on your own domain is negligible. Your much better off building something that is your own than building something that feeds someone else.

But thats just my opinion

No, they tend to delete adult blogs.

Your own hosting, or if you don't have your own hosting or have reasons not to use your own hosting then you can use:
# Thumblogger, http://www.thumblogger.com/ , in business for almost 2.5 years and access to all the tools ( http://www.adultblogwebmaster.com/tools/ ) you will ever need.
# SensualWriter, http://sensualwriter.com/ , created to be a easy alternative for thumblogger, but it is less flexible and less powerful. But when you can't get used to the thumblogger way of doing it this is a valuable alternative.

You can get excellent support for both on the support forums. |headbang|

Don't spend time and energy on something you don't own. Buy a domain and install WordPress or put it in a subdirectory or subdomain of a domain you already have.

Thanks everyone for the help. Yes I have some reason for wanting it to be diversified and not hosting on my domains or server for this project. Part of it is for reasons of SEO, the other part is I just want it to be very easy and with a minimal amount of monetary and time investment.

I will heed the advice about blogger and only use that for some softcore (clothed) fetish type things. Then I will go with thumblogger for the hardcore. I may put up some main blogs on my server and end up using the others as "feeder blogs" eventually once things start taking off -- hopefully they do. I understand what is meant about keeping control over that traffic well. I have seen a major adult blog go down on blogger, and that guy lost his traffic which was easily near 10k a day.

Now to implement my grand plan. :D

I agree, why would you waste any time on a project that you have no control over? Even if your content is no adult, can you say any free hosted service will be around forever? All your time and work gone.

How is using a free hosted service going to be less time and money? You have domains, you have hosting and wordpress if free. Actually I think it was Walrus that tried explaining how a free hosted service costs you money. Lost ad space for one.

You're right, thanks. :) But I do not want to run this from my server at all (seperate IP blocks aren't enough). It is either go with 3rd parties or set up seperate virtualhosting or another dedicated box -- which is the more time and money part. If the experiment shows to be fruitful, I may commit to these additional resources. |thumb

I think I am seeing the challenge here. Click thru rates are a lot less than what I was expecting unless I post the links cleverly inline with the post.
