How many recips?
 

I have finally got a freesite ready but I need to get it listed. I have visited some link list and got their recips. After reading several wevmaster tutorials I'm ready to put them on index pages of my site copies before I submit them. Most of these tutorials recommend 8 - 16 per page. The recips that I downloaded have two and some times three links on the recip, does this make a difference on how many I put together on the same page?|huh

It means 8-16 "sites" recips, so if 1 site has their main page link (porn.com) then a category (porn.com/nappyheadedhos/) it is considered one recip. So 8-16 like that.

Keep in mind, some webmasters won't list a site that has a recip (like described above) with more than 2 links (the main, then category). The one with 3 links, if it goes to 3 seperate pages, might get you not listed. Read some link lists rules to be sure.

I use up to 20, usually the ones with the best reps, with no problems getting listed. I use neat, matching text links. If you use the graphic ones, 16 or 20 would not only slow the page, but prolly be kind of hideous to look at.

I have downloaded the graphic recips so I see your point about the page being slow to load. I didn't know that you could use text links, I thought that you had to download the code that was provided.

Do a lot of LL's prefer the use of graphic recips or do they really care if text based ones are used?

I have only used the graphical ones since they put effort into them but they can mess up the look of a page very quickly with too many.

Each LL is different so check out their recips and they prolly have choices and even a few text examples. Also check out the sites that are listed and see what they look like. (dont copy people tables though, make your own)

I haven't been turned down for text ones, but be careful with colors to not have them blend in or not show.

I think a page with text links invariably looks better than one with graphic links. As long as you're accurate with the linking info you'll do better with text IMHO.
There are still a few LL's who have 3 links in their recips. Many LL's will refuse for this so just alter it, and remove one of the html anchors.

I use 9 recps, 3 columns with 3 rows. If a link list dies or whatever, I can move things around so there's one missing in the middle column and it still looks OK. When I find a replacement I add it to the empty cell.
