Newt Gingrich...WTF?
 

Your boy Newt was on Meet the Press yesterday. He believes that the shooting at VT last week could have been avoided if we had less strict gun laws. His reasoning was that there would have been armed students carrying concealed weapons to take out the shooter.

He went on to claim that countries like Great Britain have had an increase of gun deaths because of the gun laws. That only criminals have the guns and nobody can stop them.

I am far from anti-gun but wtf is wrong with Newt? I mean, besides the obvious.

There are people who believe that an armed society is a safer society. I call those people douche bags. ;)

Having a firearm in that kind of situation won't necessarily mean that the amateur is going to become a hero. It could just mean that a bunch of other innocent bastards get caught in the line of fire. Look at how many shots are fired by cops in those situations. Ultimately, they empty their magazines, reload, empty them again, and hit the perp once in the ankle. A firefight is an ugly, horrible thing.

Talk to any soldier about his first real fire fight. They'll tell you a story of panic, confusion, and horror. And those are people who trained for that situation religiously.

I've always thought of Newt as a douchbag. :) But even for Newt, arming students is a little over the edge.

He also blamed the shootings on Liberalism. And said it's time to take responsibility for what we (liberals) have done to this country.

Newt's been in Washington waaaayyyy too long and has completely lost touch with reality.

He wasnt the only one - Tom Delay was saying it even stronger - that we ought to allow concealed weapons in schools

Sometimes, I truly wonder at the thought processes of pollies.

Kids with concealed weapons in schools???? Yeah, that'd work. "Show and Tell" would become a lot more interesting.

I remember what it was like knowing kids were smuggling weapons in and out of school... I suppose a few deaths here and there is less then what happened in VT. :(

Once we were roasting a pig and decided to name the poor swine. I mentioned that we were going to shove a 6 foot steal pole up it's ass and we should name it accordingly. My buddy and I immediately looked at each other and said "Newt Gingrich". At the time no one deserved to have a 6 ft pole shoved up his ass more then Newt.

I feel bad for the pig :)
