Blogs as hub site

I want to build a new hub site to showcase my galleries. Im not talking about a traditional porn blog, but more of a place that I can post links to my galleries I build everyday.

Has anyone used wordpress to do this or is it too much other crap that a hub doesn't need?

Just seems easier to post daily in wordpress than to edit the pages html.

Thanks

Using Wordpress as a simple CMS is not unheard of. I have a friend that does exactly what you are talking about in a mainstream site.

When I started my blog, it was actually at the root of my linklist.

I don't build galleries or freesites but I think a blogging script would probably not be the best solution for what you want to do.

Perhaps a good TGP script might work a little better. I can't recommend any of them personally but I did see where a guy was offering his script free for beta testers here http://www.greenguysboard.com/board/...ad.php?t=39587

You could also look at some of the directory scripts out and use them to start some niche link lists. I use e-syndicat

Finally, you might want to consider a CMS like Joomla which would be pretty easy to update daily

Just curious since i've never used Joomla before but what advantages would it have over using wordpress?

I agree on using a tgp or link list script, but I want one that would display the links directly on the main page like LOR has, not just categories. But also that is free or bloody close to it ;) Not that rich yet lol

Damn, I stuck my foot right into this one didn't I!

WordPress is a stripped down version of a CMS that really has focused on the blogging aspect of a CMS. Joomla is a full blown content management system.

You have more control over what goes to the front page, it has a news reader (RSS aggregator) built in, etc.etc.etc.

I haven't visited LOR in years so I really don't remember how it's setup but most script's templates can be manipulated to output the information pretty much any way you want to.

E-Syncicate has a free version. ADP is another script that looks interesting and is free

Those are some cool scripts, thanks Walrus!
