How do blogs make money?
 

I must be the king of stupid questions by now but how else are you gonna learn. I've been seeing a lot of buzz about blogs and I don't know much about them. What exactly is an adult blog and how can you make money with it?|huh

The buzz is that blogs are more SE friendly - which is like the farthest thing from the truth.

Search engines like blogs because they are always updated with fresh new content (good ones are). My adult blog found by following my blog link on my web site (see sig) is a personal one with very few adverts.

I do have other blogs where the idea is that you write a small description next to an image and link to lets say a FHG of your sponsor or a tour.

I dont agree with you. SEs have found all of mine and listed them within hours.

They tend to do well in the search engines. Also unlike things like individual freesites and TGP galleries there is a much better chance that the surfer will bookmark your blog giving you sustained increasing traffic. The latter part I think is the whole key to the game.

Build a great blog and make it so great that everyone comes back. And if you are lucky that the surfer spreads the word -- so you have a kind of viral marketing deal going on.

But I am new to this game too but learning quick.

To state the obvious, Blogs make money by sending surfers to sponsors.
They ARE SE friendly IMHO if you use a lot of text in your posts. Images alone just don't cut it.

I don't know much about blogs but of the few I've seen they usually have a lot of text...short stories, how-to articles, etc. Along with the text there are usually a few thumbs and on an adult blog links to sponsors worked into the text. Example: A short story about the swinging lifestyle and at the end of the story a link such as: "They have great images of actual swing parties at RealTampaSwingers.com" I also saw one where a girl wrote a short "tutorial" on how to lick pussy with several links to lesbian pay sites mixed into the text.

I've noticed you seem to be "down" on blogs and SE in your last few posts. Care to elaborate a bit and perhaps explain how most of the comments I have read differ from just about any other adult site.

The only real advantage a blog platform has over other type of sites when it comes to search engines is its potential to gain organic links fast. I've seen one blog post on a high traffic blog pick up over 4,000 one-way links overnight. To match that with a LL you'd have to review 4,000 free site submissions, and at the end of the day you still end up with 4,000 reciprocal links which carry less value.

My blog isn't all that big (only TBPR 4 with around 300+ pages) but by picking up a few natural links from authority sites I see daily bot visits and deep indexing, where 90% of my blog is in the main index as opposed to the supplemental.

That's a huge advantage - not only are you gaining backlinks faster but you're getting one-way natural IBLs to your blog which Google loves.

But here's the problem. It works in mainstream but does it also work in adult? I've read several sex blogs that I linked to (girl with a one track mind, walking vixen, etc) but I've never felt compelled to link to a splog.

I agree with Greenguy.

There's nothing special about blogs structurally and you can frequently update any other type of website. Just look at this forum; it gets updated every day.
