Any of you folks successfully use epassporte virtual visa on Amazon

I've been trying to buy some books from amazon with that epassporte virtual visa thingy, but it always fails.

Anybody here successfully used epassporte at amazon?

Bill, I have had the same problem before. With Itunes also.

Ha ha, maybe I should ask the question the other way - is there anyplace you CAN use the epassporte virtual visa? ;-}

I dropped the $35 for their visa/debit swipe card, but never tried getting cash out of an atm with it - I just wish I could figure out how to use the card to buy stuff online.

Please make sure you use the virtual card number and the correct CVV2 found in your message center.
If the problem continues, please email me your UserID and I will find out if we can see any decline reasons.

Thanks

Paypal refused my epass VV yesterday for some reason.

I'm sure payments have gone through before on there.

Hey Keyser, thanks for stopping by.

The first time I tried I did use the swipe card number, and obviously that doesn't work.

So I tried again with the virtual visa number, after a bit of research at the epassporte site, hoping that was the solution, but that failed too. I tried several times.

As far as I can tell, amazon doesn't ask for the cvv2.

This is the important part of the decline message amazon sent.

Greetings from Amazon.com,

The credit card portion of your payment for the above transaction could not
be completed. An issuing bank will often decline an attempt to charge a
credit card if the name, expiration date, or ZIP Code you entered at
Amazon.com does not exactly match the bank's information. We must charge
your credit card for the portion of this transaction that is not covered by
your gift certificate balance.
---

I just went to amazon and carefully re-entered the info they asked for, to try it one more time.

When they decline me again, I'll email you with my epass ID to ask what might be causing this, because I'd definitely like to be able to use epass at amazon.

Thanks.

You know, I might have detected a possible source of the problem.

The epassporte profile form won't let me put in a USA style 10 character zip code - 5 digits, with a dash, then four digits.

It forces me to enter 9 digits without the dash.

But, all my billing addresses at amazon use the 10 character convention.

So I've just changed me profile at epassporte to a simple 5 digit zip code, and created a new billing address at amazon with the five digit zip code, and applied this to the test order.

We'll see if this works.

Why doesn't the epassporte system support the ten character USA zip code, I wonder?

Bill 2007-05-12 03:07 PM

Well, that did the trick.

I edited my profile at epassporte to a plain 5 digit zip code.

Then I created a new shipping address at amazon with the plain 5 digit zip code.

The charge to epassporte, on the virtual visa number, went thru last night, and the books shipped today.

Cool!
