What are some good ways to get excellent galleries for free sites? Many affiliates offer a gallery builder you can link to, but I was wondering if it might be better to build your own so you can add ads, and customize.

for free sites you have to build your own galleries. You'll get blacklisted pretty quickly if you submit freesites with sponsor hosted galleries :)

well, just surf some of the linklists you plan to submit to and see what's listed. The ones with recips are the submitted ones ;)

don't copy anyone's stuff, but it will give you an idea of how to build freesites that will get listed.

You'll also find lots of help in the newbies & link list forums here, so make sure to have a look through those. Then if you have any other questions that weren't covered in there you can post for answers. This is a good place to be when learning how to build freesites :)

Don't get confused between galleries for Free Sites/Link Lists and galleries for TGP's.

If you read and follow LOR's Link List rules you won't go far wrong. The minimum number of images per gallery is 12 and the combined height and length of each full size image should be at least 1200px.

You can play around with the layouts of the galleries. As Pony Girl says, study other Free sites, but don't copy. You'll soon end up with several design templates which you can rotate and keep using.
