wetplace wont list

Got this decline email:

Please don't use doorways!

Your link declined. Please contact linkmaster@wetplace.com if you think it is an error. Please include your LinkID to the message

anyone got that one and might be able to tell me what they mean? |waves|
don't they like it with recieps spread out on diff copies of the frontpage

spacemanspiff 2004-01-21 12:26 PM

It just depends on how you set up the different copies.

domain.com/index98.html - will probably not be listed at very many places.
domain.com/nekkid-chicks/index.html - might stand a better chance.

Sometimes it also depends on what other recips you have on the page. The "big boys" may want to see other big boys recips on the page too, so they know they'll get a few clicks or some link popularity in exchange for all the traffic they're gonna send you.

hey chris, i dunno if this will help you specifically or not, but if you want to make sure your mirrored index pages are accepable just use submitool. the link is in my sig - we make sure the pages are set up so its accptable to the owners listed on them :)

From Wetplace's rules:

You may submit only the index page of your site. No doorways please!

ie the page that appears as the default index page of the directory in which the site is located.

Chris 2004-01-21 02:14 PM

ok i suck for missing that...

thanks wazza |shake|

maybe on my third freesite i wont make any mistakes |buddy|

sickkittens 2004-01-22 04:02 PM

so for that....

domain.com/nekkid-chicks/index.html will be accepted?

Greenguy 2004-01-22 04:39 PM

I assume so :)

sickkittens 2004-01-22 06:46 PM

But isn't
domain.com/nekkid-chicks/index.html still a mirrored page/site?

Why woudl a link list accept that and not domain.com/index98.html

In essence, they're both the same.

Greenguy 2004-01-22 07:05 PM

Because the Link List owner sleeps better knowing all his recips are on index.html pages?

:D

If you decide to use submitool, make sure you put the word submitool in the comments somewhere. It usually helps.

security_man 2004-01-23 11:16 AM

i just went back through my acceptance/rejection emails and rembered that wetplace is one of the few linklists that requires you to confirm your submission. dunno if you confirmed it or not but that might be the problem :)

Depends on the link list, but there are two reasons why link list owners don't like index98.html

1) Being on page 98 of a group of recips can hurt the ego a little. Especially if they have lots of traffic to send you from their high ranking PR soaked pages.

2) I can't remember what reason 2 was. |sad|
