From what I hear the owner of Thumblogger is a decent guy, but that's not where you'll run into problems. It will be difficult to find good trade partners and places to submit your blog to with a free host. Nobody will take you seriously if you're not willing to invest the pocket change to buy and host a domain.

Yup, it is good and it has its uses, even for experienced webmasters, thumblogger is almost in business 3 years now. But you didn't expect a different answer from me ;)

Don't worry about places where you can submit your blog, there are many places that do accept thumblogger blogs, especially when they are "good" blogs. And above all you really don't need to submit your blog to 50 blog directories, 15 to 20 good ones is all you need to get the fun going.

Finding blog trades won't be a problem neither, just post a message on the support board and depending on your blog you will have some nice trades. Or use Blog Trade Finder ( http://www.adultblogresource.com/tradefinder/ ). Or just post a message on a webmaster board, when you have a good blog link trading won't be a problem.

It of course all depends on your blog, most people won't trade with a bad looking blog that is not handwritten or doesn't have something special (like pagerank). But the same applies to a blog on your own hosting. |loony|

Most of the users I've spoken with are very happy with thumbblogger and like twan said there are plenty of places that will accept it and trade with it.

But free hosts are not free. You give up the top ad placement on the blog to the host. With thumbblogger it's a small strip across the top of your blog. What that means is that a percentage of traffic that you work to get will go to the host.

I've broken the numbers down here in another thread which shows that if you build a goog blog that over the course of a year you would actually "pay more" in lost sales for a free hosted site than if you would have registered a domain and paid the hosting yourself.

well i have seen people with PR3 having thumblogger
does it have to do with their site linking or is it thumblogger plays a mayor role on it?

I have been using Thumblogger for some while, when you get used to the weird navigation and slow server, it's quite good, especially for adult content

Can you go a bit more in detail about the slowness of the server, cause i thought that since the last update (about 3 weeks ago: http://www.adultwebmastergroup.com/s...ead.php?t=3631 ) the server is far more responsive then before. |loony|

I use Thumblogger and I find it to be great. As said there are some people who will hold it against you if you use a freehost, but personally I have not found this to be much of a problem. There are tons of directories out there which will accept you. More than you can really list with recips (space).

Uptime is very good. server was a little flaky as mentioned a while back but seems to be going strong now. Host ads are very minimal as Walrus said. But the only thing I don't like is that last time I checked it is AFF (will not open that can of worms any further).

Thumblogger is a great no hassle way to put up a blog quickly and efficiently. The interface has a short learning period, but upon getting it you'll find it is pretty easy and efficient. There are some quirks here and there with it, but all in all pretty solid.

I do notice that blogspot blogs tend to get indexed much quicker and a bit higher (from my observations), but then again they *are* GOOG and their TOS technically forbids commercial porn.

thumblogger is a great addition to your website empire. For sure has it's use. As do all freehosts. If you aren't using these free services to jump other stuff off your missing out. |thumb

As many have said, free hosted blogs are good for certain purposes. Some traders will automatically discount any trades from a free host because there are a lot of "bad apples" that use free blogs for spam (splogs). I have no problem finding trades because I handwrite them and try to make them look decent. 3 of my blogs on thumblogger are PR4 and I have many more PR3 on there. Good ranking on yahoo searches too. My only worry is if the free host shuts down someday or sells the domain to somebody who wants to take advantage of it. As long as twan stays in charge then I'll keep using TB and SW =)
