Polygamy
I have to admit that most of my information about polygamy comes from Biglove on HBO. And on that show a man is legally married to one woman. And through some ceremony that is not recognized by the state, is "married" to other women who all live together as a family.
How was that ever illegal? And even today, why is it so bizarre? To me, the big downside is the cost :) But if 1 man and his wife want to have other women they call wives living with them, why is it anyone's business? |
I have a few female friends that live with more then one man.
|
I was thinking about that Cleo. I think real polygamy is more about having children than anything.
|
Personally I find it hard to live with even one person.
|
Imagine having to keep 2 or more adults and children happy. And, think about what it costs to do that. But, it is their choice...why the hell does anyone give a rat's ass?
|
Christine would like to add a tranny to our relationship. :D
|
Isn't that a mormon thing?
Personally, being married to 1 woman was bad enough can you imagine more than 1 mother inlaw? |badidea| I had to put up a crucifix and garlic to keep the last one away. |
For the penis? :)
|
I guess, who knows, she frightens me sometimes. lol
I watched her fuck one of the trannies a few weeks ago and she just bitched that she didn't know how to fuck properly. Angel had a party the other night and Christine looked like a kid in a candy store... at least until she realized that none of the trannies at Angel's party were into woman. |

its an issue because the vast majority of Americans find it scary when they meet people who have different views from them on anything and the only option left is to |acid people with practices outside the norm

They should definitely be able to do that if they please. Hell, it would be nice to have someone else (guy or gal, I'm an equal opportunist) in the house here....then I could work while they do 'house' stuff.....cause with just me, one of those things suffer while hubby is at work. The sex would just be a bonus...like having a house cleaner who puts out...haha. :P
Seriously, the government sticks there nose in places it doesn't belong and has been doing it for years....no difference here I suppose. As for the cost, hey...get whoever stays home to start building porn sites and the household will be set. ;) |

I already make the porn but could use several bill paying husbands who don't mind sleeping in the backyard.

there is actually a community on the border of Utah and Arizona that is mainly a sect of the mormans that got kicked out of the main church.
The guy who runs it is named Warren Jeffs and was arrested last summer for various warrants including sex with a minor (i think she was 13 or 14) who was one of his "wives". He should be coming to court soon but this little town that they all seem to live in is pretty closed off and one of the reasons they had a hard time arresting them is that those wanted in Utah would go over the border to AZ and vice versa. I could use a few rich husbands and 1 cleaning girl. |
If you look at the history of polygamy, it usually boils down to being practiced in societies where females are seen as property, with no or few legal rights.
Extra wives are typically purchased by rich old men, while young men go unmarried. |
here the rules are you can only deal and be married with one woman, still i know a guy here in hollland and he was famouse( he died some time ago) he married one wife but had 70 other wifes he lived with, beats me whats the deal with that

There is an offshoot group however that continued the practice. |

Men have often died at rates higher than women, especially after the invention of organized warfare, so if that was the only explanation you would think there would be more cultures practicing polygamy. I doubt we can explain modern polygamy with that model. Now it's mostly about wealth. Everywhere that polygamy is practiced, the richest men have the most wives, and most men don't have multiple wives. |
I have a lot of friends that live polyamorous lifestyles ..different from polygamy in a number of ways but primarily in that it isn't a choice connected to religion. It is more about being able to be in love with more than one person and it is less male focused ..ie women can have multiple people in their lives too. It really isn't all that uncommon.

Aren't they usually known as sluts?

There are many cultures throughout the world where a man can have more than one wife and it is perfectly acceptable part of their culture.
For other areas of the world that outlaw and shun polygamy, I think it all boils down to the religious belief that marriage is the union of one man and one woman, period. Some people believe that adultery and divorce are an automatic admission into hell. If enough people believe this way, organize themselves and in turn, become a powerful force to influence the Gov't into passing such laws. I think it is just intolerance of anything different from those views of people who have the power to influence and those making the laws. For example, the Pope. This man has some serious influence throughout the world. Now, what if the Pope approved of a man being able to be married to more than one woman? Imagine how many polygamist communes would be popping up founded on the Catholic religion. How many laws would suddenly change to allow polygamy? |
