Index Page Submissions
 

Hi there,

I am submitting some free sites to Link Lists that I like. I am getting Banned and/or rejected. The email I am getting is that I need to submit the index page. I know this is embarrassing but I am not sure what an index page is. I bought my own domain and host. I am not cheating or blind linking and stuff like that. I just hope that I am not making LL owners mad at me. Here are the sites I have submitted so far.

Essentially, these are galleries with a warning page - not freesites.

Freesites are supposed to have more than one page. They have a fairly regular structure, consisting of 4 pages -

Index page (like what you have there more or less with the recips and warnings), then the ENTER button gets you to a welcome page which lists the available galleries. Only then, by clicking the buttons (or links) to Gallery 1 and Gallery 2, does the surfer get to the actual galleries.

So:
Index/Warning Page > Welcome Page > Galleries

You need to have at least 2 galleries. I've seen freesites with 3, but just one won't pass. Each gallery needs to have 10-12 pics (depending on the linklist, so right now you have too many there.

My best advice would be to browse through the big linklists (LOR would be your safest bet) and look at the freesites they list.

ahh. I see now. i just need to really make my own sites. The gallery builder on my sponsor site creates the zip file for me. I add the warning page so I can submit to the LL's I like. Well its back to the drawing board. I'll be sure to sharpen my pencil better for the next round. Also Some LL's are saying that I have Java script. How do I remove the Java Script?

That gallery builder may be inserting a script. Don't use a it, make your own. If you have to use it, look at the source code and if you see something like SCRIPT LANGUAGE="JavaScript" enclosed in <>'s, delete everything down to /script.

Forget the gallery builder. 1. As you've already found out it inserts all kinds of crap on your pages. 2. They only produce cookie cutter galleries that nobody wants to list. 3. You'll never learn how to do it yourself.

Acquire some basic skills, read up on the rules, build your own sites and you'll be making sales in no time flat.

I am learning this slowly but surely. Thanks Trey, Tigermom and Lemmy and everyone else for being patient. Watch for this next site I am going to make today.

Also, before submitting them, build them and post the links here for review. You'll get VALUABLE feedback and once your site is top notch, feel free to submit away.

One tip, don't use index01.html, index02.html, etc... to duplicate your index for recips. Make one page index.html, next copy is warning.html, next copy is.. well thats up to you.

Thanks everyone. One more question. What is FPA or HPA? I guess I have that on my site too. I got rejected from 3 more LL's for this just today|confused|

FPA = Full Page Ad
HPA = Half Page Ad

I really can't see a use for them on a free site. If you want to use a sponsor ad, go with an odd size or mag one. Don't have the ad take over the page though.

One of the things about FPA and HPA's that suck mostly is that they are a table with many links on them which can take you over your 3 outbound links allowed. If you feel you MUST use a FPA or HPA, take the ad and convert it into one solid image. Link that or use a text link to refernce to it.

I spent most of this week setting up a few more free sites. I have submitted to a few LL's. I seem to be getting banned/rejected still. I have some other person to help me submit sites by hand. Here are the example sites I made from scratch. So far I have submitted to 100 LL's.

....the javascript on the exit link on your index pages that closes out the window might be part of your problem...

I've never heard of a link list counting all those links as outbound links. The table is one ad and if it takes several ref. codes to make it clickable that's usually OK. As Greenie said, it the intent of the ad space. Not all, but most link lists agree with this. There are still a few outgoing link nazi's out there but they are few. (Only one that I know of)

Let's ask the critical questions here. Who are you? Who is your domain registrar? Who is your host? You're using Domains By Proxy, which is an instant rejection from me and many others.

I assume you're still using SC's gallery builder since your galleries are still a big sliced image and they don't mesh with the very dull, unskilled design of your index and warning pages.

Everyone keeps telling you to kill the javascript, yet you haven't removed it from your exit link and there is an onclick in your 2257 links that shouldn't be there. If you wanted to open your 2257 page in a new window, even though you shouldn't, just use target="new".

I'm amazed at everyone's patience with you. I think you may have a touch of the Down's.

Before you keep subbing to more places STOP before you are Blacklisted. Constant break of rules wil get you there. Then you can no longer sub to those sites.

Build 1 site, check the rules, fix site, check rules, fix it some more, check rules, fix it again and then ask here at the board if everything looks okay before subbing to another place. Surprising you will find some people that are patient here to help you thru your growing pains. Once you get okays from others then try submitting. Plus you will learn all the little mistakes to avoid for the next site you build. When you build the next one repeat the process again before subbing.

Wow. There is a lot to fix here. Thank you for being patient.
I am new to web design and I am am learning quite fast. I will build a couple more and show everyone before I submit. I thought I was being unique in my design but I will brush up on my design skills also. The sites i just made are from scratch and not from a gallery builder. Although I am using sponsor pics on my first sites until my exclusive content arrives. About the Proxy thing I will remove that also. Thanks again for all the help
