Major google Update Started

Looks like a significant shift going on - some interesting changes in the algo and their philosophy about adult sites

CaptainJSparrow 2004-01-24 10:02 PM

My personal opinion is that this update started last Sunday night. I started noticing changes on Monday the 19th.

Linkster, what changes in google's philosphy regarding adult sites are you referring to?

Linkster 2004-01-24 11:19 PM

I suppose I should have said "the dance" as the results are going live around the world finally instead of being intermittent -
that said - I dont want to say anything on the philosophy until its over as it may just be that filters and results havent been completely factored in yet - but if it sticks the way it is it will be interesting

CaptainJSparrow 2004-01-24 11:28 PM

Well, guess we'll have to wait and see...do hold on to that thought on google's new philosophy. I have theories of my own and am curious about yours.

The unusual thing I can see right now even on the Yahoo (Google) results is its a much different index than they were playing with earlier in the week - but then its still early :)

IMHO - Yahoo hasn't been doing the same filtering of results that google has been doing. Just look at the serps and you'll see.

Not strage. This is normal when there is a "update" on the way. Google Changes date centers, flipping from one to another. google has many data centers, which are used to serve results when people search at .google.com. As one updates with changes, it may or may not propogate to all other datacenters. If some are different you may get different SEPRs based on which datacenter you are provided with when searching.

All I know is that I have lost all my rankings and I was #1 for sluts. (Fluctuating between #1 - #2) and now I'm no where to be found. Maybe I will show up under other keywords

Just hold your breath and tap your heels 3 times AcidMax....then wait 2 weeks....

Seems to work for me.
