Picture Size

Hello...a comment on one of my sites from a member of the board made mention that you can't have pictures larger than 80kb...is that a standard? I'm just checking because I also read on the board that if I stick with the rules of link-o-rama that I should be good and I did not see that mentioned there...please advise.

thanks

Personally I think pics larger than 80 kb would be acceptable as long as they don't go above 100kb a pic. With all those people having broadband internet these days pics can be a bit bigger than they were a couple of years ago.
But I've people submitting 500kb pics to my LL's. Obviously that's a little too big :)

Most of the linklist accept 100kb pics and I submit with 150kb pics. However some sites deny when it reaches to 200kb.

Keep it under 100 kb and you will be fine.

I however like mine to be 70-90 kb.

I guess I haven't drawn the connection of how pictures on MY site affect the listing on the LinkLists. It's my bandwidth...how does this affect the linklist? I will definitely conform to the requirements...but what's the reason why the requirement is there? I can see it as a factor in a TGP when there is an automatic preview or thumbnail scanner, but how does this apply to the linklist? Thanks

Speaking in general terms (not just about pic size) anything that's listed on a LL reflects back on that LL. A crappy site reflects poorly on the LL listing it. A freesite with huge pics that take forever to load reflects poorly on the LL listing it. A well designed freesite with nice pics and movies that load fast reflects well on the LL listing it. It's all about making the surfer come back.

That said I personally don't look so hard on pic size as I used to. More and more people are getting fast Internet connections and I feel up to 200 kb is reasonable.
