Every been annoyed that you made a sale?

I am! I have this crappy paysite that i designed, sent a load of free traffic and probably gave up way too early but it didnt do much so i sent my traffic elsewhere.

Now ive just got a sale on it, i have to update weekly for one member (as my tour says i do).

Its not worth it i dont think.

Would you just refund the member?

LOL

Ramster 2007-08-06 08:37 AM

LOL, no just leave it. No refund, no updates....he'll cancel eventually.

SheepGuy 2007-08-06 01:49 PM

LOL Ramster, I think we're related, same last name, same customer service philosophy ;)

Don't believe it. I had a (non-porn) business up to about a year back that I rather stupidly set up using a CC processor that I had no control over (seemed like a good idea at the time, they did all the work and just sent me the money - less their fees). Just over a year ago I closed the business down. Since I could not do anything to terminate payments, I emailed all my remaining clients and told them to cancel at their end. A couple did not get my email (spam filters I guess) and contacted me once they realised they were paying and not getting the service (I sent them a cheque refund for the last payment). But one guy did not stop payments, did not contact me, has not replied to any of my emails, and is still paying. It is just over a year since I stopped giving him the service he is paying for, and I got his most recent payment a few days ago!

Im worried about a chargeback. I am thinking about paying a designer to make the site convert so perhaps i should update. But an update is like $100 (2x $50) a week so thats $400 for a $25 membership. He has cancelled now.

Porn is tough, too many hard decisions lol

That was me. I just signed up to mess with you.

;)

I'd probably just refund the members money or not update and risk the CB. If you got one with it maybe the site isn't as bad as you thought.

marcjacob 2007-08-09 05:31 PM

That is a good point actually but the ratio was so low that i feel like im wasting traffic. I can get 1:100 and better with some sites so i feel like if im sending it elsewhere im throwing money down the drain.

gandalfuy 2007-08-11 03:46 PM

hehehe, a sale is always a sale though
isnt it?
:P

I forgot to mention it before but now might be a good time to take down the portion where you commit to updating on a set schedule. :)

marcjacob 2007-08-12 06:32 AM

Yeah i should have thought of that. I think this week im going to start updating it. Ive just made another sale on it so maybe ive been a bit hasty in abonding it.

HAHA now THAT is a new one, but I definitely can hear what you're saying. It's not worth living up to all your promises just for one guy. I say fuck him, a lot of paysites make promises they don't keep and if he doesn't like it, he can cancel. Don't refund him!

This whole thread is so unbelieveable.....

I Cum 2 fast 2007-08-16 09:48 AM

send him flowers if he rebills.. :) i say just forget about it

donsfreeporn 2007-08-16 06:41 PM

He'll cancel, don't worry about it

Beaver Bob 2007-08-16 10:42 PM

first thing i'd focus on getting a nice buffer of content for updates, like 3 or 4 months worth at least. redesign it, then when you are "ready" just start getting traffic to it in any way possible.

CD Smith 2007-08-19 09:46 AM

I was racking my brain trying to think under what circumstances I might be "annoyed" at getting a signup. Couldn't come up with anything other than it later being a chargeback. Then I clicked the thread and read....

This is definitely a first. For me anyway. I definitely did not expect what you wrote.

Props for originality. |thumb

I have just realised that this thread sums up rules 1, 2 and 3 of running a paysite (or any site come to that). So for any newbies reading this thread;

RULE 1:- Before you start working on designing your site, work out how you are going to get traffic to it.

RULE 2:- Before you start working on designing your site, work out how you are going to get sign-ups for it (or sign-ups for your sponsors if it is not a paysite).

RULE 3:- Don't even bother thinking about site design before you have rules 1 and 2 licked.
