Lawyers LOVE to talk and you'll be amazed how much info you can get for $20.00 :D

Both pay attention to this post and ignore it!
Pay attention to the part about seeing a lawyer., but ignore the bit about paying in dollars. DO NOT go to an American lawyer, go to a lawyer in the country you are interested in (this means two lawyers, one for Italy and one for Spain). However, any good US lawyer who advertises that they deal with European law will have some kind of arrangement with Spanish and Italian lawyers an be able to poke you in their direction.
Also be a bit wary of the cost. If you pay $20, you ain't gonna get more than a few seconds with a worthwhile lawyer of ANY nationality. Think in terms of a few hundred dollars. It may sound like a lot, but I hear that Spanish prisons are hell holes.
