BOOM

Wow! In all the years I've lived in Florida I've never seen this before. We had a storm roll in about 3:30 or so nothing unusual just a thunder buster. All of a sudden a big huge lightning bolt followed by a huge boom. It was so loud my daughter pissed her pants, and I screamed which totally freaked the grandson and dog out. It hit at the end of the driveway went threw the cement down to the metal pole, cement flew all over the street. It hit so hard that my door blew open when it came down. It was really cool as I've never seen it hit so close. Just wanted to share my excitement |shocking|

Needless to say the cold beers have been flowing my way since it happpened.....I scared :D

Wow! You left OTB pretty quick around then ;) Glad nobody was hurt!
My grandparents were hit by ball lightning years ago, blew the front door in and smashed the wood burning stove to bits. They were both in the kitchen and it blew right by them, luckily no one was hurt and luckily there wasn't a fire in the stove.
That said, I still like storms, there is an awesome beauty about them.
Glad you're OK!!

Glad to hear you are OK and be thankful for that metal pole.

My moms last house in Georgia was not so lucky. Blew out most appliances and electronics when it hit the home because builder forgot to put in those metal lightning rods. This was after a couple of trees close to the house were taken out by other storms. Needless to say, they sold the house on the hill with 10 acres of trees.

When I used to live in Florida, I was walking out of my house with my mother-in-law, and a lightining stike hit the canal right in front of my house about 50 feet away. It actually knocked us back about a foot. Was very creepy. |shocking|

We were having a party one afternoon years ago and a bunch of people were swimming. Lightning struck the yard about 100 feet away and everyone in the pool got a little jolt :) It could have been much worse but it was funny seeing everyone scramble to get out. :)

I live in England, it is safer. Here the odds on me being killed by by as meteor are greater than being killed by lightening (it is the other way round in the US).

However, that statistic does include the possibility of a "Dinosaur Killer" hitting the earth in my lifetime.

Wow, some scary things there with lightning!

Jim what were you in the pool for during a thunder storm? Feeling a jolt yikes, I bet some of them walked on water that day :D

Simon, storms can be a thrill to watch. When they roll in off the water the clouds are awesome!

Ecchi keep your eye out for "Dinosaur Killer" LOL!!

Yes it could of been bad, that metal pole did ground it. But still it was awesome!

Glad to hear you're all okay ... but I'm not sure you're completely over it yet. I'm saying that because it wasn't me that commented about storms.

I'm more of a 'pull the front of the kilt up' kind of guy.

:D

Gnarley !!! Do you have any pics? Pics of the broken concrete not the pissing in the pants hehe.

Glad you're ok Sue! You couldn't PAY me to live in Florida! Of course here in Texas, the storms scare me to death. Should have stayed in California. |shocking|

virgohippy 2007-09-03 10:48 PM

Awesome! Did it hit before or after you left OTB?

When the Scots did that, we snuck round them and stole their country.
So you had better watch out doing it to us, in case we ever want Canada back. :D
