spouse subbing as well

I have maybe a stupid question...my husband has been thinking of also designing his own freesites and subbing under his own domain - they will probably be hosted with the same host and subbed off the same systems (we have three computers)...is this a problem? He will obviously use his own nick and email...just wondering.

Basically, i sub one a day (or try to) as will he...

Do you share the same IP?

magpie 2004-01-28 09:32 AM

similar ip's, but no

Greenguy 2004-01-28 11:59 AM

That's good :)

Another thought popped into my head as I was clicking reply.....same account names/numbers with the sponsors?

magpie 2004-01-28 12:02 PM

nope...we will both have out own codes...:)

Greenguy 2004-01-28 12:04 PM

Submit away :)

jennym 2004-01-28 03:27 PM

Not a problem here either. :)

DangerDave 2004-01-28 04:54 PM

Thanks guys! We will probably be setting his account info/domains up next week or so...:)

Yeah the same link codes, two different names being used is instant ban.

You and your other half should be fine. :)

GG...when my husband and I are subbing from the same computer (during the same day) your site will not let us sub them both...we have diff ips, diff accounts with diff ref codes and diff domains so is there any way around that (other than using diff systems to sub?)

magpie 2004-02-02 05:04 PM

Ok...I guess (i am an idiot) if we are using the same computer we do have the same ip, right? But we will be subbing on any one of 3 diff computers with 2 diff ips (two are connected via router)...is this a problem? He's already done 2 sites and if it will be, we will figure something out...

A fairly confused Maggi

DangerDave 2004-02-02 05:21 PM

Mags,

Think in terems of "connection" not PCs.. if you are on the same connection, then you will have the same IP and appear to be the same computer to any "recieving" server.

A diff connection will get you a diff IP

Cleo 2004-02-02 05:22 PM

If you are both behind a router then the IP of the router is what is going to show up, not the private IPs of the computers.

Luna and I work together all the time, but she has to go home to do her submits. If she did her submits from my house then we both would have the same IP address.

magpie 2004-02-02 05:40 PM

DD and Cleo....I understand now. Thanks...that kinda sucks tho.

He has subbed two already from the same IP but from now on we will try and find a way to have him sub off a diff connection/computer...hope those two free sites with the same ip will be okay.

Right now we have a satellite connection (we live WAY out in the middle of nowhere) do you think if we signed up for a dial up account for him to sub from that would do the trick?

Thanks again guys - Maggi

Cleo 2004-02-02 05:53 PM

First see if disconnecting and then reconnecting your satellite connection gives you a different IP. It may or it may not, depends on the system they are using.

If you are a laptop user then maybe sign up for WiFi access at your local coffee shop. StarBucks has WiFi at most of their stores. I've been known to do my submits while sipping a latte at Starbucks. :)

Either that or just take turns submitting. You could have even days and he could have odd days or something like that.

magpie 2004-02-02 06:25 PM

Sounds like a great idea with the laptop and WiFi...I may just do that. A friend of mine runs an internet cafe with WiFi and I'm pretty sure he can hook me up...

Great help, thanks Cleo :)

Linkster 2004-02-02 06:41 PM

Maggi - can you post (or just PM) the name we should be looking for on the other submitter so it doesnt get trashed here :) I also assume you're using two different email addies?

magpie 2004-02-02 07:08 PM

Not a prob Linkster - his nick is sergio...did you want me to PM the domain?

And yes, he and I both have our own domains and email accounts :)

Thanks! Maggi

Linkster 2004-02-02 08:05 PM

Maggi - nahhh - thats all we need over here :) just for the people looking at IPs :)
