Got my first tattoo started on Sunday...

I haven't posted in sooo long been very busy on 2 large non-adult projects. But Sunday I took 1/2 a day off and MadHatter started on my first tattoo. We got all the outlining done yesterday, and after my leg calms down a bit, we will get the shading done on it, then the color. Nice thing about having a hubby who is a tattoo artist, he goes at my pace and gives me lots of breaks. :D

Here are pics of it: http://www.dragonsbloodtattoo.com/tattoos/ginny-ankle/

It was REALLY painful over my ankle bone, so he had to modify the design some on the outside pic where he crosed the vines and put in the 3 leaves instead of another large flower. It will all be corrected with shading. I'm real happy with it, and eventually, I'll have to have it done on the other ankle so they match, lol.

This is the peice MadHatter is doing on his leg, he used stippling (tiny dots) for shading, a technique he used alot when he was an illustrator. I think this looks so cool. He will be getting the color on this week.

I would have liked to get the shading done too, but it was just getting too sore, lol. I figure in a few days I can get that done. I like flowers too, I'm going to have him do at least one the colors of a sunflower, since I love those, but the rest will be very light lavender and very light blue.

Congrats, looks very nice so far. I got my first one last Tuesday, will show you guys some pics soon.

Personally I rather enjoy the pain.

Ohhh Missy RC -- that looks great!! Can't wait to see the finished product.

I have one too a diamond with my now ex-husbands name in the middle. 10 years, you'd think it would fade by now. LMAO.

Nice and sharp looking line work there! You said it yourself perfectly, though - your FIRST tattoo. 'Cuz once you get one, you get another and another...kinda like eating Lays chips. I only have 2 but they've both been reworked several times over to make them larger and with more detail. I will be concentrating on getting a full shoulder done in the very near future. You will never stop looking for new work, by the way. You'll see designs in some of the most mundane places and objects. Its f'ng terrific stuff.

Ain't that the truth.

Always said that I would never get a tattoo and now I have three not counting my permanent makeup that is also tattooed on.

My latest one is the one in my avatar. It is an add-on to the one on my lower back.

Been thinking of getting something on the inside of my left wrist for awhile now. Thinking something dragoon like.

I also want to get the one on the back of my neck touched up along with adding to its design.

Oddly last week when I went to the beach I ended up sitting next to the guy that did two of my tattoos. I knew he was really covered in tattoos and piercings but I had no idea just how covered he is until I saw him almost nude at the beach. He looks like he fell into the Sunday's comic newspaper printing press and was printed, folded, and stapled.

I almost choked on my soda reading that, Cleo....|headbang|

Tattoo's just do something to the soul. Its primal. I can almost guarantee most people that have ink can tell you exactly why and what they were thinking about when they got it. Its that kind of experience.

My wife had a tiny little one on her shoulder when we met. She now has 3 pieces plus a belly button piercing and looking for her next tat. And I thought I was bad. How did the neck feel, Cleo? My wife is thinking about getting something from behind her ear down the side of her neck.

My son turns 17 next month and we're going to San Diego for a conference but one of my camhoe's husband has his own shop and is going to give my son his first tat.

Here is what he's getting on his upper arm. He said he's going to make that his tradition to get a new tat every 2 years on his birthday.

My original one has been reworked twice and while my RugDawg is getting his I'll be getting this one on my shoulder.

Of course now that I know we have a tattoo artist in the "family" I might have to make some runs to Pahrump. :D

Very nice tattoo RedCherry |thumb I can't wait to see it with colors!

Like everyone else has said once you get one you want more. I also never thought I'd have one and I have three. I've been searching for something to do with my grandson to put on my other arm. I just haven't figured out what I want yet.

The only time I thought it was painful is when they did the back of my arm that hurt |cry|

Cleo I love your tattoo also |thumb

Now that I've seen and read this post I want to go get a new one :D

I've been thinking about getting one of those ones that say "Your Name" inked on my butt or someplace. Works for anyone then!|jester|

Another good example of nice line work...and a great downblouse shot |boobies|

Sorry. How could I resist that one?

That's very pretty! Be careful though--they're addictive. Also, avoid the elbow at all costs. If you are having trouble dealing with the pain of having your ankle worked on, don't even think about the elbow, inner-arm, or ribs. I've found the least painful tattoos to be on my outer thighs, inside my lip, and on my hand.

thats a very nice tattoo, i am thinking of taking a tattoo for years, but still dont have it, i want my own design and it has to be on my wrist, i know what i want but still didnt do it, its the same as my eyebrow piercing, took me 7 years to get one, reason, my hubby didnt want me to have a piercing, now i got it already 7 years and i am already thinking of pulling it out because i think i am to old to have one, now my hubby is the one who nag keep it in, i dont have a normal eyebrow piercing, it looks like i have 2 peircings at one place, but thats because i have an bellybutton jewel on my eyebrow...i think thats the case with me, i want something special ..like no one else have, so i keep waiting to have an tattoo till i have an design which no one else have:)

If you want a tattoo that no one else will have, just ask your tattoo artist to do it with invisible ink so you can be sure no one can ever copy it.

:D

Is that the new black light tattoo ink? That's a pretty cool idea but I want my tats to be seen. :D
