Free site, AVS stuff
 

Bah, I spent a few hours this weekend looking at where my money comes from and how many hours it took me to earn it and I reached a couple of conclusions I had been leaning towards for a while. OTB gave me the idea to dig deeper, and it's good shit like that that keeps me showing up every Saturday ;)

Freesites don't convert well for me, maybe my sales approach sucks on them, maybe I give too much away, I'm not sure. Reviewers like 'em, but they don't convert as well as I think they should. Maybe I'm stifled by the rules, but I know I don't have as much fun building them as I do building other stuff. That likely has something to do with it as well.

When I build and promote an AVS site properly I'm damn near guaranteed a sale in the first couple of days, and more coming through the months and years. Sites that take me 30 minutes to build make me more money than freesites that take me 90 minutes. So I'll build accordingly.
Free sites send quantity traffic to my LL and my solo girl site, both of which make decent money for me, but I have no clue how productive that traffic is compared to the traffic coming from AVS sites, I suspect free site traffic is less so. I'll keep building free sites, but less than before, spending more time on AVS.

Just my experience as to what is working for me, and I no longer preach the AVS gospel, because it is not for everyone, but as more and more LL's start listing them I see them as a big part of my future plans.

And I'm not saying free sites suck as a business model, just that after a year of building them, they don't work so well for me. I'm going to spend a bit of time and money on galleries as well, I haven't really given them a fair shot.

I re-evaluated my work hours/money flow a few months back; I made a similar decision about freesites as you.

I plan to build more freesites again, eventually. Though, probably not the same way, nor for the same reasons, as when I first started. ;)

I second the value of MML's weekly OTB. :)

Do you think people browse freesites and get what they need for free, then move on? I'm getting an awful lot of hits on my gallery pages, but sales are few and far between. Makes me wonder....

I third the value of MML's almost weekly OTB. Man does deserve a vacation now and again :D

Sheepguy, I still feel like a newbie too and its been 6 yrs today for my first gallery submission.

Luscious, to quote something MML stated a few weeks back. "Every page is an opportunity to sell." Freesites for the most part give the most ad space with their structure than any other free traffic source of quality and quantity. But they are very structured and can be stifling for some.

This is just my opinion, freesites do not give away too much porn the webmaster does. Many have forgotten the art of tease or making the surfer want more. No build up what so ever, just money shots |huh

Can you sell hardcore with just softcore pics? Yes you can. Most LL, TGP, etc have unfortunately made it much much harder than it once was. So do it on your hubs and whatever else you can come up with.

LOL! I'd damn near bet money that I could put up an AVS site with pictures of sheep on the front end, promising pics and movies of foxes and beavers and such inside, and make a few sales |jester|

I also owe MML a big THANK YOU for a comment on OTB a while back. He said not to overlook niche specific link lists when submitting free sites. Since I build a lot of squirting sites I looked around and couldn't find any link lists that were strictly squirting lists. I threw one together and have already made 5-6 sales. I know that's not much but for a site that's just sitting there, with very little input on my part, I'll take it. And when traffic builds it can only get better. I have the #1 spot in Google for a popular squirt phrase and #3 and #6 for two others so that will help. What this boils down to is that I'll be getting more and more away from building free sites and building more niche specific link lists. Not overworked niches like amateur, lesbian, etc. but some niches that aren't hit as hard. Thanks MML!|thumb|shake|

I am trying to do both, and other projects as well... Life tends to get in the way too lol, kids and family and all that ;)

So far, no huge successes to report, either with FS or with AVS. I make money, but I want to push it much higher. Still, it took me several years to make my mainstream business as profitable as it is today, I expect the same with adult :)

We have been submitting galleries since the beginning and free sites were the next step with us. It took as a LONG time to get free sites making money but now that we have been doing it consistently for over a year the sales are becoming somewhat steady (you know as steady as porn can be|thumb)

Most free site sales come from the index & main pages where we put a lot of time into sales text. The galleries have been our weak point but using those templates with different content for gallery submits helps that to be profitable.

Now we are so busy with our mainstream endeavours that are going to put everything into our free sites, aim for 7 a week and see how it goes.

I guess AVS will be the next step :D
