No offence taken Art. Most of us feel the same way but much worse. There doesn't seem to be anything we can do about it. Just thinking back, I can't believe the crap the US has done in my lifetime.

do we really think that enlightenment on what ADULTS do behind closed doors would be acceptable in a state that less than 50 years ago turned dogs and water hoses on anyone they didn't consider "white"? Took 100 years, federal troops and a dayam law passed and if it is anything like the last time I was there in 2002, 1/2 the population still thinks the confederacy will rise again. With the exception of the gulf coast area and Huntsville.. the rest of the state, IN MY OPINION, is still thinking they are in reconstruction days.

NO offense to anyone on the board intended. I left my dead parents and my virginity behind there and if i could get either back, I'd be happy.

What must be running through the minds of these politicians that create these laws.

Crime? "No big deal"
Education? "Some of us can read"
Jobs? "A few people are working"
Female Orgasms? "If gawd wanted women to feel good down there he would have given them a penis"

Neil Young said it best..."a wheel in the ditch and a wheel on the track." Trying to pull forward, but stuck in the mud. World class healthcare centers, high tech automobile plants, with a large percentage of the population that think Geroge Bush is a true leader, Saddam and bin ladin were buddies, and that Jesus can cure you from being gay.

A lot of the silly laws are a result of large and powerful church organizations (Southern Baptist) who feel it's their obligation to impose morality on everybody. It's what Jebus wants, you know. Politicans cater to them because they have lots of money and can delliver votes, but the average Alabamian is pretty cool, and there's plenty of sweet ass babes...not to mention beautiful lakes with great hunting and fishing.

I know, 'cause I'm an Alabama native, and in general you can have a nice life here. But I will admit there are those that live up to the stereotype, unfortunately.

My father (and his KKK family members) were born in Birmingham. He left at age 18.. came back at 50 to work in the civil rights movement (thus me living there from 1965-1970) died there, buried there with my mom next to him. Luckily we lived in Huntsville which was filled with "yankees" from the NASA glory days. But the few times i spent more than 3 or 4 days there reminded me of why I don't go to church--EVER. I do agree with you, that one cannot "judge" an entire state based on their leadership alone. There are parts of Nevada that could be interchanged with Gardendale and you'd never know the difference.

The Southern church culture at one time had many positive aspects..brother helping brother, social interaction, etc. But so many of the mega churches have become political arms of the parties' agendas. It's a little unsettling to me since the church has been used at various times in history for all kinds of ungodly activities...usually the result of a merger between religious and political leaders.

Yeah, I live in Mobile, AL near the Gulf Coast and heard about this case several years ago but didn't know they tried to get the Supreme Court to hear it. I just can't believe how any politician can justify this ban on sex toys. |huh If they were cornered and asked, what kind of realistic, logical, meaningful answer could they give?? If I'm not mistaken, laws are written to protect the citizenry, from each other mainly, so how can they justify that this law protects anyone? What does it protect a man or woman from?? I'm going to try and get a list of legislators in Alabama that supported this law and write every one of them and see if I can get an answer that means anything. I just can't believe it....

Blame it on Jesus and his followers. The bible says it's a sin to masturbate. God gave us genitals so we could multiply. Any kind of sex that is not for the sole purpose of generating offspring is therefore a sin.

Maybe it's like the waiting period for purchasing a handgun. Kind of a cooling off period. You want to get off NOW, but if you have to order your sex toy from another state and wait for it to be delivered, the feeling will pass.
