Me Thinks It's Better To Splog Than Not Blog At All

Last week I spent a couple days cleaning out inactive Blogs on my Aggregator.
It blows my mind to see a blog with 100's of handwritten posts being abandoned, when the webmaster could have turned the blog into a splog in a matter of minutes.

Is my thinking wrong? |confused|

Speaking of Aggregator's I've had a mainstream one up for half a year or so that I'm closing down (I never fail to lose money in mainstream).
FYI the three categories that got the vast majority of traffic were Political Blogs, Gadgets and Celebrity Blogs in that order. |huh

do you think so? I was unsure about turning my blog into a splog, it kind of felt like selling out, but I felt guilty about not updating it so I moved it to a subfolder and put something else on the index...it's funny you mention it tho, because my next project is bringing it back, I miss it hehe :D

Mainstream sucks.

Even when you do hit something that makes a little money, it doesn't last.

And you are never going to meet a bigger bunch of crooks in your life, ha ha ha.

Ahhh, but the mainstream dream shines on...

Think so? I've got a fair number of splogs and literally I dont care they just keep doing what ever it is they do.

On the other hand, I've got a blog or two that I'm considering either selling or giving to a good home just because I don't have the time to continue (in other words the ROI just isn't there) and just can't bear the idea of going full blown RSS fed splogs on them.

I had the same feeling, but then I came to my senses. ;) The only reason I'm in this business is to make money. My blogs weren't doing that. After I converted my 3 "realest" blogs into rss fed splogs they're still not making money, but at least I'm not wasting my time not making that money.

PonyGirl your a perfect example of what I'm talking about, if you had left it in place with a feed or two while you were "bloged out" the search engine bots would have continued to crawl the site and bringing it back to a more personalized blog would have been a piece of cake

I agree with you T pat. I have a site with 5 separate blogs on it, plus about 10 more on different domains. I could not keep up with the demand to update them all the time and write my own content. I've started using zipped blogs for each niche now because the site is several years old and would be a shame to just scrap the site now.

I actually even changed a burdensome TGP into a blog where I use splog galleries just like it was a TGP updating everyday and it's working out MUCH better than it was when the site was a TGP. Definitely something to say for splogs.

Mainstream the only success I have had is with my high end fashion and niche specific fashion splogs.

Sounds logical...
Gonna turn a blog into a splog right away.
