Steady Traffic Flow
I have been running my site XXX Showoffs for a little over a year now. I do fairly well with it, but I believe I can do much better. The issue I am having is keeping a steady flow of traffic to the site. I would love to be able to be listed at some of the link lists like Link-o-rama, but since GG and other list sites don't allow sites that require you to register, I am sort of in a bind. The reason I require registration is because people can view, rate, and comment on all new photos posted within the first 7 days without having to be a paying member. After that they have to pay to view the archived photos.
I have a top referrals list on the site that produces some traffic, but the majority of the sites listed are low level trades. Any suggestions on what I can do to help increase the inflow of traffic to my site and hopsefully increase the number of members I have? |
I'd call that a pay site with a 7 day free pass option. I would not call that a free site, so why do you think LL owners who only list free sites should list it?
(There are a few link lists who will list pay sites, try them.) |
Oh... I never said it wasn't a pay site, because it is definitely that. I guess I will just build FHGs and submit them to push traffic back to the site.

I'm curious, how do you get over 30,000 user submitted amateur photos in a year?
|
Not a year... close to 3 years...
And that is kind of the problem... The first year did great... then it started leveling off, and now traffic seems to be going down. It should be the other way around! |huh |

I'm sorry... it's a little confusing. The site has been running for just about two years as a pay site. It was actually another site which was free before. I decided to merge that site with this one and make it a pay site. A lot of the submissions came from when it was the free site. But, even as a pay site I still get quite a few new submissions every day.
I guess the problem I am having is getting word out about it. It was doing really well with people spreading the word in the beginning, but I'm figuring that now it's not something "NEW" for everyone to check out that they don't tell everyone about it anymore. |
After a brief look, I didn't notice anyway for a surfer to refer the site to a friend. And also, RSS feeds would help bring in new traffic as well as entice existing users to participate more.
