Question about changing hosts
I didn't think changing hosts would have any effect on my gallery and freesite submissions assuming I had both hosts going until the dns fully propagates (which is where I currently stand), but I have a PA at Richard's Realm and all my listings are slowly being removed due to being "changed."
There is nothing that has changed other than my host, is changing hosts something that typically causes problems for gallery and freesite submitters when they do everything properly? I emailed them to ask what the deal was, but I sent an email about another removal issue 4 or 5 days ago (which I determined to be shitty hosting, which is why I'm where I am now), and have yet to receive a reply so I don;t suppose I'll hear back about this one either soon. Thanks in advance for any help:) |
The ip changed as did the date and time of the file. Some scripts will detect that.

That's the only thing I could think, and I can live with the last 2 weeks of galleries being removed as long as changing hosts isn't going to cause future problems.

I've never heard of a freesite removing sites due to changing hosts. I've had problems in the past connecting to certain hosts. Never could figure out why, but my script was coming up with a "could not connect" error, even though I could load the site in my browser.
Maybe it's something like that. |
Sounds as if you did everything right. It would be pretty crappy of a host to mess with you just because you are leaving. I will mention this to one of our admins though and see if they might have any insight as to what you are experiencing.
Good luck with the rest of your move. |
I'm pretty sure it's just gonna be with Richard's Realm removing the older ones due to the new timestamp from being uploaded to the new host. The galleries I submitted after the change aren't being bothered - so i guess his bot is just a bit picky about what it considers "changes":)

And what about name server? Did you change it too?
Sometimes, when you add new name servers for your site, it can be down for 1-3 days till the new NS applied to a certain domain name. Maybe that might cause the reason for removal. |

Actually DNS is Domain Name System. Not Server. It is a system that converts your IP adress into a human-readable hostname with the help of Name Server.
Google Proves. |
