How long does it take to make

Hi,
I was just wondering how long it should normaly take to make one TGP.
I have made a few but they took about a day each. The thing that took most of the time was making the sample thumbs.

I'm thinking one days work is too much surly I shoud be able to make one quicker!?

Yes, you should be able to make them faster than that.

Google "Arles". That's the killer tool.

Altho there are other options too.

Hey I Googled 'Arles' and mostly got a small town in France!

Like I say the thing that takes the time is the milti dimensional Sample Thumbs that need to be made, each submision site srequires a different size. I thought about automating the process but because of the different dimensions of the thumbs I have had to crop them all by hand. Its not as simple as scaling the image up or down because that would make the images all out of shape etc.....

Thanks

They don't sell arles anymore? Then you missed out, it's the best thumbnailing tool made.

Maybe they changed the name. Try adding 'thumbnail' to the search.

Great tool, saves me many hours of work. But I still go back and "re-thumb" a few manually as needed.

Building a new gallery template can take me several hours. Selecting the full size images, dropping them into appropriately named folders, then using Arles to make the thumbs takes just a few minutes for each.

I made 10 new galleries on Saturday, using an existing gallery template, in less than 30 minutes.

Hey there is only 'arles image web page creator' do you think they might of incorperated the thumbnail creator into the web page creator?
From the screenies it looks like it has a thumbnail section to the software I just hope its the same as what you guys are using?

Toby 2007-11-07 06:25 AM

Yes, the thumbnailer is the biggest part of the program.

Nice one, getting it now.

Thanks a lot you two.

those things you are making are called "galleries"
a TGP is a site that lists the galleries...

I just use photoshop for my thumbs. its tedious but i like having total control and i've got it down to a system now where i can do it quick.

Making the sample thumb for submits is one area that I do not trust to a script. I want to make that thumb stand out among the crowd. I manually crop, resize, and otherwise digitally enhance every sample thumb I submit. Time well spent in my opinion.

Yeh thats the thing that takes up most of the time and creates a days work for the whole process...It does with me anyhow. Thats not including the template. If only there were less size difference required for the sample thumbs by the TGP's

I dont think there is a script that can do that is there!?
Its an old fashioned human eyeball job as far as I can work out.

"those things you are making are called "galleries"
