XML - a short primer.

In my daily blog travels I cam across this great post about XML what it is and what you need to know about it.

I found it useful and thought other bloggers might too.

I took a look but can't see the problem Pat....what should I be looking for?

If there is a problem we definitely want to know about it, so I appreciate the feedback.

One of my aggregators is using RSS2HTML to parse feeds and apostraphies
"'" wack it out & wacks them all out, examples below:

Zane ?s Mother Duaghter Surprise (Explorer)
Zane s Mother Duaghter Surprise (Firefox

I've set up over 250 single word feed campaigns in the last week, I'll be spending the next day or two removing apostraphies, ampersands and white space from them, Rage Cash feeds look a hell of a lot better than most

Pat, I'm not sure its a feed issue. Rage Cash feeds look fine on my blogs. You might want to try removing the charset statement from your header or changing it to UTF-8

I actually hope it is me, (easier than editing all the posts with an apostraphie in them) I tried changing my charset statement, that didn't work.
I'll see if kaktus has any ideas

Odd, I'm using RSS2HTML, the free version.

You can see here on XXX Blog Maniac that I'm not seeing the problems you are.

Since I'm including the feed on a blog page, the character set was the only thing I could think of. Since I would assume that the issue would have to be in the head.

T Pat 2007-11-26 09:34 AM

The feeds look great when I parse them with Blogs Automator, so I'm going to concentrate on Splogs/Blogs that are fed with BA

Thanks for the tip Ben!

I'm impressed with how active you are on here at helping people. Because of that, I am going to go ahead and try out Rage Cash.

Just signed up! :)

I found 2 things with your RSS that will make it impossible for me to use it. :(

1) I'm using only the headline and link. Since all of your headlines have the site name in them, it doesn't look natural beside all of my other headlines.

2) When you click on the headline link, it doesn't take you direct to the gallery - but instead to an entry page. Two clicks to get to the content.

Those two things aside, your RSS feeds are managed very well. I would love to use them but these two small issues are preventing me from it.

That was going to be my guess. You need to just make a change to your header and change the character set and it should correct the characters being used in the feed and get them to display properly.

I changed the character set to UTF-8, that fixed my ampersand problem but not apostrophe's http://www.rssnobrainer.com/Bizzare.html
The guy that coded this for me reappeared from the dead, I'll have him tackle the apostrophe's, it's got me baffled |huh

It works like a blog...which is exactly the way I would want it to work. The headline link takes you to the blog page and you can get more porn from there.
