Americans, Please Explain Nancy Pelsoi To Me
 

As I Canadian, I watch love to watch your politics from the sidelines.

I have a question I hope a few of you might try to answer. Why in the hell is Democrat and House Speaker Nancy Pelsoi refusing to allow the impeachment of Cheney and Bush? Despite a best effort from Congressman Dennis Kucinich, his attempts to bring this to the floor keep getting sidelined. Why? Enquiring minds want to know!

The only reason I can see is that when the democrats took over congress she said that they had no interest in impeachment.

Truthfully, the democrats have been nothing but a huge disappointment. It seems like they just don't want to appear too radical.

The democrats just don't seem to play the game as well as republicans. Look what happened last week when Kucinich tried to bring impeachment to the floor. It went back and forth with democrats voting to not sent it back to committee and republicans voting to send it back. Then, the republicans turned around and started voting to not sent it back and the democrats turned tail and ran.

Supporting torture and lying about weapons of mass destructions and your reasons for going to war won't get you impeached but getting a blowjob from an intern will. |shocking|

The blowjob wasn't the reason. Lying to congress about the blowjob was.

So far, the weak democrats can't really prove that Bush lied to congress and don't seem to be pursuing any other avenues.

I have this feeling that we are going to be sucked into Iran through the backdoor. I think Israel will most likely attack Iran within a few months or so. They have all the reasons in the word to do so with Ahmadinejad saying that Isreal should be wiped from the map. When that happens, we won't have a choice.

I don't think that there is enough evidence to win an impeachment proceeding so it's very risky. Nancy Pelosi is much smarter then people think.

1. If the democrats start the process and it doesn't finish by the time he leaves office any way then what do you have?
2. If the dems start the process and the evidence is weak then the dems look bad.
3. In an election year the republicans will keep complaining that the dems are wasting time.
4. Kucinich is now running for President. His motives are single minded.

The only advantage to impeaching the Dick is that it may keep him side lined long enough to avoid an Iranian conflict.

Fox News spent more time then any other cable channel talking about Paris in prison and Brittney's issues. The neocons like the idea of a sex scandal and that's why they were all over that. Sending soldiers to their death is not as interesting as blow jobs.

Impeaching won't help win the next election.

It just killed me to watch the republicans beat the democrats last week with the impeachment vote. To turn the tables on the democrats the way they did is the reason democrats can't do a thing.

Why wouldn't you start impeachment proceedings and purposely plan them to end after the next election with the real goal of further damaging the Republican brand? Perhaps not an honourable motive, but these are politicians after all. I would think that day after day of impeachment proceedings on the evening news has to be "political gold" for the Dems.

You have to watch Fox News or Glen Beck for a few hours to understand the mentality of the voters in America. It's really pretty scary that they use nothing but leading questions and catch phrases to make a point and act like it's news.

"Attacking the people that keep you safe."

"Now we're fighting them there and her."

"Strong stance on hero Cheney, weak stance on terror."

It's a can of worms that should not be open.

Looking back on the 91 gulf war when Israel very nearly got involved with that, they said then that it would spark off a huge holy war destablising the middle east and kicking oil prices up to high levels worse than what they were back in the 70's.

It looks like the recession fears might get worse than everyone thinks.

I hear the term "impeachment" a little more frequently now. I think the American public is fed up and would support impeachment at this point. I saw a bumper sticker that said "somebody give the president a blowjob so we can impeach him..."

While I understand Clinton lying about getting a blowjob, you just can't lie to congress. You can't lie to any federal inquiry. I know the first thought for any man caught with another woman is to deny, deny, deny. But, he should have finally made amends with his wife and tell congress he got blowed :) when the time came. If he did that, there would have been no grounds to impeach him.

On the other hand, this congress can't even get Harriet Mires to testify. How would they ever question Cheney or Bush? Perhaps Clinton should have exerted executive privilege when they wanted to talk to him.

Technically you are right, and maybe he should have admitted he got a blowjob...I don't know if having Hillary pissed off at you is worse than a conviction for perjury, but it certainly would have spared us a lot idiocy on the evening news about cum stains on blue dresses and such.

For a prosecutor to use a "perjury trap" in which he asked a question that would almost certainly bring about a false answer...and a question about something that had nothing to do with any underlying crime (unless a blowjob from Monica a crime)...is highly questionable. Probably one of the reasons Bill Clinton was aquitted.

Bottom line it was insane for the Republicans to make such a big deal out of a personal affair. I used to be a Republican, and all the sanctimonious horseshit just got too much for me.

You know what irritates me and really has nothing to do with this thread? The fact that since clinton claimed to never have sex with that woman, kids think blowjobs aren't sex anymore. I had a difficult time trying to convince my boys that it was still sex.
