Do You Host Adult and Non-Adult Together?

I would like to consolidate my web hosting plans into as few as possible for convenience and to save money. Ideally, it would be nice to have just one account to manage.

I was wondering how webmasters who make adult and non-adult sites host their websites. Do you put them on separate servers or on the same server with separate IPs or something else? My main concern is trying to make a "Chinese wall" between the two types to stop corporate filtering programs from banning all the sites. I also have a couple of clients who I know would be mortified if they thought their site was hosted with porn.

Any thoughts or experience you might have would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Just make sure they are on different ips. I would think that would be enough for sure. I guess having different whois information too.

I have all kinds of stuff on my server.

Adult, art, mainstream.

My server came with a bunch of IPs and I group the stuff on my server with different IPs so that someone going to the IP of mainstream stuff doesn't get hit with adult content.

Different IPs and use a different DNS if your host provides it.

I thought about this the last time my sister in law was here. She wants to build a homeless shelter website and has no idea how to get started. I offered her server space but thought about it a bit and decided it wouldn't be the best thing.

I've done a little thinking about it and I've decided to keep them separate. I am going to get a dedicated server and create two VPSs (Virtual Private Server). Thanks everyone for your thoughts!

I have adult servers and mainstream servers. At first I combined them but now I keep them separated. I have different people working on the servers, different companies, different partners...

I just made more sense for me

I think if the site was my own, I wouldn't give a rat's ass. But a NYC homeless shelter really shouldn't be on a server wth porn no matter what you do to the server :)

LOL I still run into this all the time, so many people still don't understand that if they use the phone then they are working with technology where tons of porn is located as well. We used to laugh all of the time as we had two neighbor server in a rack, one for a dial a prayer and the other for a very large porn company.

While separate boxes would be the best for most people in the long run, different IPs should really be enough.
