gPC...Is the g for google or green?

Just kidding...I have known that the $200 pc was built "green" since it was announced. But, if you search gpc everex you see a lot of "respected" magazines wondering if the g did stand for google.

Anyway, with Christmas coming like a freight train and walmart selling out of this cheap pc so quickly with plenty more on the way, I have to wonder if the new, not too smart surfers that buy this will be more inclined to buy memberships. Damn, that was a nice run on sentence.

It runs a flavor of Linux. Should be interesting putting this OS in so many homes.

I was thinking that too. I just noticed that matt cutts bought one and is trying it out on his blog.

I installed Ubuntu into Parallels sometime ago. It's a very nice nice OS that does just about everything the average computer user needs without having to install any 3rd party software.

I just ordered the Buy One Get One from the one laptop per child group. It's a pretty good way to get technology into the hands of people around the world that can't really afford it. There is an option of donating the 2nd one to the program as well but we are having it sent here. I'm going to install a few programs onto it and then send it with our annual Xmas box to Pine Ridge Rez in SD.

Eventually they hope to get them down to 100.00 dollars. Currently I think they are 188 each but I figured this is a good way to contribute and get technology to a few more people who can't really afford it.
