TGP and LL Categories

Well my question is a simple one its mainly for the major tgp and link list owners but any input will be accepted. I was thinking about starting my own tgp and later on a LL and I was wondering how many categories are needed to start a simple tgp and ll. I ask this because most of the major players have lots of categories but I was wondering if they started that way or added on as they went because as of now I would think it would be hard to fill up 40 or more categories to start with. So if you could provide any help at all that would be much appreciated.

Hi PhatCat |waves| welcome to the board :)

Some of us have a ton of cats...some just a few. Whatever number of cats you have someone is always complaining because you don't have "their" cat. Add to that most webmasters submit to wrong category up front and it's hard please everyone.

That said I added 12 new micro-niche cats to one of my TGP's today, giving it a total of over 70 cats. lol

Mine are all private and that makes a huge difference.

Thanks for the welcome Surf and your quick response.

Ok. From what I am understanding of what your saying is that it doesn't matter what you start with you will always have to add more later because someone will always want another cat that you dont have on there hehe. Guess you can't please everyone :)

I have another question how important is it that I put a gay or tranny cat on my tgp because some people say thats a big market that I shouldn't leave out. Even tho thats not my cup of tea should I still put it on there ?

Also is a warning page needed for a tgp ? I have seen many without and some with. Is there a big difference in traffic to ones without them?

If you have traffic you have gay surfers. Why lose money excluding what they want? I'm not a fan of gay porn but I like depositing my checks. :)

You need a warning page if your server is in the U.S. The ones you see without them are hosted in countries that allow them without a warning page. The warning page is the place to make your sales IMO

Surfn: That is very true bro. I will keep that in mind while building.

So your saying I should put ads to my sponsors on my warning page? Wouldn't that sort of defeat it being called a warning page. If that is allowed that would be a great idea. Im not sure how the TGP rules go so if you could explain at all what you mean it would help me out alot.

Thanks once again.

Do commercials refer to themselves as commercials? Basically there are 3 reasons to the warning page:
1. to warn minors and those who are offended by adult content.
2. to sell to the adult surfer before he burns up anymore BW.
3. SE food.

A general LL or TGP would be a risky deal these days your better of targeting your traffic buy going niche or micro niche even :)

I would second MML comments...

and add that the number of categories you have... should be based on the number you can "fill"... Empty categories do not a link list make.

Surfn: Thanks for your help bro I understand what you mean now.

MrMaryLou and DangerDave im sure your right about this and I plan to do a few niche and micro niche sites but for now I plan to just start this one since its almost done. So what I plan to do is take submits from the people I get for this site and use them for my other sub niche projects to get them off the ground one niche at a time. I know they won't have the recip of the new site but at least that will get them coming and make submitter feel ok about posting to me where I can get them to put the new links on.

Thanks again for all your help.
