Getting started in blogging

What's the best way to go about this? Should I sign up with Thumbblogger? Should I set up a new domain? Use my sponsor's blogs?
I will not be able to hand write the blogs, so is it even worth it?

I want to jump in, but not sure where or how...

I would get my own domain, download a copy of Wordpress, its free.

Check around the blogging forum for some useful tools.

If your not going to be able to hand write posts, then I recommend you get Blog Automater, its not free but but there is a fully functional trial version that will handle enough blogs that you can figure out if this is the direction you want to go.

Then use your sponsor feeds to populate the blog and away you go.

If I were to start blogging from scratch I think the first thing I would do is spend a day reading all of the posts in the blogging forum and taking notes.

LusciousDelight

You've obviously got your own domain so it won't cost you anything to download Wordpress and set up a blog/s to see how it suits you.

Thumblogger is certainly very worthwhile if you want to go the free hosting route, and you'll learn a lot along the way.

I've done both, and can recommend both ways of blogging although in my experience you've got to go the volume route to make any real money. I've now bought Blogs Organiser which is a fantastic way of making and controlling a large number of Blogs.

Thanks for all the help. I did check out some of the blogs in the blogging forum, and will take some notes. I downloaded the trial version of blogs organizer, but couldn't get it installed...I'll check with support to see what's going on.

I do have "lusciousdelights" domain, but was not sure if it would be best to have a page or section on that domain or start a whole new domain.

I'm surprised you had trouble with the install, did it get as far as asking for your database info?

If you and Japamor have any BO questions hit me up I've got a pretty good handle on the script

Oh and I would get another domain to play with and see if blogs are your thing

Sorry, I meant blog automater, as recommended by Walrus above. I think BA is what I want, but I'm not really sure.

On the install, I did not get past running the the installer...I get an error message when I try to install. The server test thingie reports everything is ok...I do have a post in the forums. I've installed a few scripts and this one looks easy, so I'm thinking it's a server problem. We'll see.

Somethings not right it's the easiest install I've ever done.
Kaktus is real good about support if I were you I would PM him (on his support board) your ftp, server access info and database name, user name and password, odds are you will wake up with it installed.
Of the two scripts BA is the more important, wordpress is free and has tons of applications already written for it, everything except for a dependable way to import feeds and that's why Walrus recommends BA

Cool, thanks for your help! I finally figured out how to switch to binary in Dreamweaver ftp, and I plan to play around with it tonite. Look like I have to edit a .txt file to get DW to upload in binary

BTW, F'n Vista won't let me save txt files in certain directories for some damn reason, but Xp does. Go figure...sorry for the ot...
