Hidden Dangers in Visiting Porn Sites

What sites actually do this?
"Online pornography hunters' Internet adventures are already fraught with danger from malicious code many porn sites use to commandeer visitors' machines or steal personal data.

Now comes a scheme some researchers say amounts to extortion: One site's threat to disable visitors' computers with relentless pop-up ads if they don't pay for a subscription they were automatically signed up for after a free trial."

No matter who it is, it is horrible for the business. What Einstein would think it a good idea to scare surfers from trials? These people need to be hunted down.

They definitely need to be hunted down, I wish McAffee had named names.
Reminds me of a Utah Phillips saying "The earth is not dying, it's being killed, and those that are killing it have names and addresses."

Assholes like this can seriously fuck this business up and need to be dealt with. Wouldn't racketeering or extortion cover this? It's got to be illegal I would think.

I never link to tours which use consoles. They just annoy me and will probably annoy the surfer.

I thought Greg Lazardis got screwed by the FTC for this years ago?

Very bad indeed. Any site that requires you to download an application to view their site should be a Big Warning to the surfer.

Porn really has a bad reputation in this regard. I am sure most people on this board run clean sites, but the shit heads like those assholes give internet porn a bad name. I've had people who know I do porn refuse to go to my site because they've had problems surfing for porn, usually requiring a reinstall of windoze.

Bobc01 2007-11-30 05:55 PM

This is no surprise to be honest, i've heard a fair few people say they won't go near porn sites for fear of viruses/trojans and worst of all, fear their credit card details stolen.
With things like RBN and all the other eastern block scams milking over £100m out of the UK alone through ID and credit card theft, is it any wonder online business is set to slump?

I read this article today as well Jim, its crazy to think that a business person would basically "strong arm" a person into paying for a full subscription. The ones that this will effect the most are the first time porn buyers, IMO. Because once word spreads as to who this is, they wont be around too long. I can only hope its an isolated thing and doesnt become widespread..but with most things bad, Im sure other assholes will latch on and ride it as far as it takes them...hopefully straight to jail.
