Strange referrers
 

Hi -

Does anyone have a clue why a couple of my old free sites and random pages would be getting a few dozen hits each today from the following?

http://seotraf.com/c/get-special-lin...to-click-feed/

Just seems weird. Are people just using these sites as a web proxy?

Referral spam maybe...

Meaning what exactly? I see their URL on my stats pages, look 'em up, slap my forehead and go "wow! just the service I've been looking for!?!?!"

Must be something weird. GGandJ had http://www.microsoft.com as a referrer last month. :)

Here's a quick read on the subject. I'm not saying it is what you are seeing, but it's a possibility.

That might explain a few hits I've been getting.

Sometimes you can also pick these up when somebody pages backwards to your site.

They were are on your site, went somewhere else, and then used the back button to jump a few pages back.

I occasionally see people returning to my page from the CC processors decline page.

I've seen things that look like that they could be that too, but in this case, it would be a heck of a lot of people suddenly deciding to page back to various of my free sites from those 2 particular unrelated pages.

it is more than likely referrer spam unfortunately
