Google text ad Trojan detected
Seems that Google may be finally starting to wake up to all the thiefware. It will be interesting to see where it ends up legally.|club|
Advertisements placed by Google in Web pages are being hijacked by so-called Trojan horse software that replaces the intended text with ads from a different provider, Romanian antivirus company BitDefender says. Google said on Wednesday: "We have cancelled customer accounts that display ads redirecting users to malicious sites or that advertise a product violating our software principles." http://www.news.com/Antivirus-firm-G...l?tag=nefd.top |
Holy Molly... it sounds interesting.

Damn that is some nasty shit.
One question though. Why are the canceling advertisers if a trojan is redirecting ads to a 3rd party? Seems to me like they criminals wouldn't even need to have a google acct. What am I missing here? |
Because sometimes these people also run PPC ads. A few weeks back I spotted an ad for Z A N G 0 in the #1 paid spot for "porn" on Yahoo. I've also noticed them advertising on other high volume spots.
On the adsense side maybe they are starting to scan for links to malware sites. They are also starting to flag bad sites with a warning that refers you to stopbadware.org |
