I'm interested in creating some blog directories... similar to this:

What software do you guys recomend I use for this?

wow not even sure if that's a script, it kinda looks like one of These except it's not on a subdomain.

I wasted a bunch of time with phpLD don't waste your time there

I'm a big fan of Blogs Organizer I'm sure with a little tweaking you could make it work for your directories

A directory script is what you want. There are tons of options including free ones. all will require massive template work to create a unique design.

Looks like one of twan's to me.

I'd say it is definately one of Twans...it's his style and that is a custom script he wrote.

Do a search for link directory script in google, you'll find tons of them but I highly recommend you stay away from phpld

I don't know but I don't really trust these blog softwares :(

i'm using phplinkdirectory rochard, it seems ok so far, but i'm still learning it, and messing with it

My own story, I've got a very old copy that I went through upgrading a couple times but the upgrades never fixed the problem I have with the script. Now I just live with it.

I also bought an early copy of Newstopica....I tell that story in the post I pointed out.

But the best is T Pat's story in that thread and another one that is linked to in that thread. Anyone who does business with those ass-holes had best beware!!!

SHIT!!! that sucks man, so they fucking spammed from his sites, that is horrible, VERY dirty, very low blow!!

I just located this thread. This is David from phpLD, and there was no spamming going on as a result of something we did on this person's site.

I see in the other thread there were a couple of unhappy people, but I have to tell you that you can take a look at our forum, and clearly see that we answer nearly every question, and help people quite effectively. That's not to say that something things can go wrong (and not even be our fault).

We have continued to grow and have many happy customers. You guys may have a grudge, but that is not something I can control, and if you need help, we are still available on the phpLD forums should you need support.

Newtopica was upgraded and is now phpLD News. We worked with Walrus in December 2005, and since then we have done much to improve our products and support. Walrus, you are welcome to have a free copy of phpLD News if you want to try the upgraded product.

Yes, I am familiar with both of their cases, as they were both memorable. They actually had more problems with our Newstopica product (on about 100 sites), not PHP Link Directory (on almost 100,000 sites). We can't make everyone happy, but we have no shortage of happy customers. When you've got 1000s of customers, there are going to be a few that for varying reasons will get upset.

They are still welcome to come to our forums, and we will try to help them as best we can. We have certainly grown our staff and may be able to help even more than before.

so are the accusations about spamming true? whats the deal with that???

Of course they are true, what would I have to gain by making that up?

i wasnt implying that you were lying pat, i just wanted to hear dvduvals reaosn for why that had happend to your site, from his own words (typing)

jscott you can see my reply over on page 2 of this thread here. This mention of spam is something he brought up here recently. Should we have had an opportunity to see what happened, we might have been able to help. One point worth noting is he was using a 6 character password for his server that is a name like "mickey" or "donald". With a password like that his server would have surely had a problem at some point, though I still don't know specifically what happened in this case.
