My Latest Project
I am one for trying new things so I'm experimenting with what I think is a slightly different concept site at
free-porn0.com I'm interested to hear any comments and guesses as to what I am trying to acheive. Matt..|thumb |
change design!.

umm, you state that there are no liks to pornographic material..but you have links going to a TGP and a mega link list that certainly have porn.
Might want to rethink that. |
Good Reactions!
Blogman, I don't think you're thinking laterally, think about where it could be listed etc.. NYJ, It states "No clickable links". This means that very young ones can't stumble upon the porn. It also means that there are no outbound links to porn sites but there are outbound links to relavent wikipedia stuff. The trick will be to get inbound links in this situation. I think it will be a long term proposition. Thanks for your responses.|thumb |

... but the design looks like search engine spam. So much that at first glance I started not to look at it, thinking that you had taken the page down. My personal expierence with sites that resemble this are full of redirects and non-relevant affiliate links and I'm sure the same is true for surfers who would find your site. So more than likely they would never give you anymore than 5 seconds before leaving. |
Good point, It does look a lot like those SE spam pages so that could be addressed.
I don't think search engines would see it as spam though since the site has valid content and structure. The idea is a tricky one. To get ranked under adult terms and to direct traffic in profitable directions but not be totally filtered out or devalued for adult linking. The page is neat and uninteresting especially for an experienced porn surfer but for the new porn hunter it may look proffesional enough to give them confidence to follow the leads. This would be especially true if the site ranked highly because in that case surfers tend to assume the site has merit. I've spoken to many people who say they won't look at porn becuase "those sites wreck your computer" or "I just keep getting popups or redirected". I'm sure there is a certain market there for surfers who want to be taken by the hand and guided into internet porn without being instantly slapped around the head with big tits or have their senses overloaded with front page fisting and cum shots. If you search under "sex" in google, the top 50 or so sites are non-adult sex related sites. I think if you owned one of those sites you could do well if you could guide surfers in the right direction without being reclassified. Am I making sense? |

My greatest concern is the money. I've done a lot of these little projects and they're never worth the time invested. Quote:

I think it's interesting...my first impression is that it's supposed to be a public service or something...but is there really a need for that? I think it's just kind of weird to tell someone to have good antivirus in order to surf porn...granted, we all know it's necessary, hell for even downloading ad content from the webmaster section and for submitting to some sites, but to kind of lay it out in a how to site doesn't seem like it will be fruitful...and I don't think the domain name goes with the message...I know it's supposed to appear like free-porno but it's truly free-pornZero.....that's just my feedback...it'll be interesting to see what it becomes
|
one second thought on the domain name, what about free porn zero headaches or zero crap or something to get the zero incorporated in the slogan...? just a thought
|
Don't expect the site to be too good yet coz I made the whole thing in about 3 hours.
I suppose you could think of the domain name as meaning it is "ground zero" for free porn or the starting point for free porn surfing. Anyway I initially just looked for something simple that had "free porn" in it. I don't see how it could be crucified as spam because I intend to have plenty of valid out going links to non porn sites relating to the subject. As far as monetizing goes the links to avs services, free trial sites etc will be links that the surfer must copy to their address bar manually and will go via forwarding pages on my other domains as opposed to ugly sponsor links. How can the search engines see anything but text relating to porn and links to non adult sites? Of course most filters etc will pick up on the adult terms but you can't get ranked without them. Maybe I'm imagining that there are varying degress of adultness.|crazy| Anyway , thanks again for your attention guys.:D |
Looks interesting. An attempt to combine the intellctual, moral, and legal aspects of porn with actual porn. Or something. Fuck, I can't quite figure it out.

I still honestly think the statement is for lack of a better word Bullshit.
But with that said, it's your project not mine. Good luck. *** Quote:

I've done some redesign now. I think it makes a little more sense now. |loony|
|
...and some more changes.
I feel I'm getting somewhere now. |
I think UW hit it right on the money...if you can't monetize the site, or monetize it enough to make it worth your while, then it could be a waste...more so when all the content is from wikipedia...side projects are hard to make successful, my side project to make recip tables has been hard to push (link in signature) and it's a pretty good product and free, I monetized it by using banners but the usership is low so it doesn't yield a profit...the good thing is, it makes life a hell of a lot easier to submit when I go to the linklist page and have all the direct submit links for all the major sites there...point being it's useful to me first and foremost, but it's also useful to other people...I don't see how people are going to benefit from this or give it the time of day so that they will benefit mostly because, as you're showing, they can get the info from wikipedia....I always like to see good projects take off, but I don't see the potential in this one...free-PornO sounds like a decent name for a linklist... =)

I think everyone just looks at what the surfer will see when they get there. At this stage this is not the point. This site is initially designed to do one thing and that is to rank. To achieve this I hope to get relevent inbound links from sites where other porn sources don't normally get listed. I'm hoping that the fact that there are no derating outbound links will help too. The wiki info is just dressing up to legitimise the site and I don't expect surfers to actively seek it.
Monetizing can come later. There are no real overheads with a site like this, just time to carefully develop inbound links. For those SEO "experts" out there. Nobody knows the answer, if you did then you'd be rich and not messing around here. I believe if you do the same as everyone else then theres a lot of people to climb over. Take a different route and you never know you might get a clear run. Nothing ventured.... |
