Your Thoughts On Linking To Your Hub?

I have been getting a bunch of submissions that would pass except they are using 4 outbound links. The fourth is a link to their hub in the copyright/2257 area of the page.

Am I being anal considering this a fourth link?

Mr Exotic 2008-02-07 01:15 PM

Alot of people probably would, but for me it depends. If the link to their hub is a big link that they are trying to push traffic to then yes I would decline. If its just a little tiny link that they are doing for SEO like just a little link next to the copyright area at the bottom then no I wouldnt decline. I'm probably more lenient than most though.

I am not a linklist owner but I play one on TV! :>

I know a number of linklist webmasters here give that a pass if the 2257 page contains so porn pics or links. It must only have the required legal text.

I understand what you're saying art, but I am referring to say linking your hub to "Copyright Your Site 2008"

Is it linking to the index of the domain?

© Greenguy & Jim Ltd 2008

If so, then I allow it (hell, I encourage it)

If it's linking to a different domain, then it starts to look fishy.

What GG and Mr. E said.

Encourage, eh? Hmmm, I'll go with that...:)

Porn Junkie 2008-02-14 01:28 AM

hmm, i always thought that would have been a no no.

Cool to hear its okele dokele thought!

tigermom 2008-02-14 07:05 AM

I always thought that was a big no-no too, unless it's within the allowed 3 outgoing links? Might try it next time I submit a FS (it will happen one of these days!)

papagmp 2008-02-14 09:29 AM

I always go by the 3-links plus a 2257 link (as long as the 2257 link has no adds or pictures on it).

Technically, it is a legit "copyright" link, so just treat it as such by linking to the root index of the domain & I see no problem.

balls_deep 2008-02-14 11:27 AM

I've relaxed my guidelines and now allow for a copyright link as long as it's not obnoxious.

I have been rejected places for doing this on some of my first freesites but it was only a handful.

In your opinion, does it matter if the root of the domain is a MGP or blog?

NY Jester 2008-02-15 10:08 AM

Wouldnt another way to avoid any "link" issue would be to just write out the URL much like people do with 2257

ex: Copyright 2008 yourdomain.com without the link?

I don't care if the root is a FPA (but that'd be fucking moronic & act against what a legit copyright link is supposed to do)
