My LL needs feedback
 

As a long term project, I've converted a hub to a LL. Looking for feedback and suggestions.

Things i'm debating

• links to sites opening a new tab/window
• new banner
• fewer categories

It's setup right now for email submissions to help me get to know submitters but I did write a script for it so its got a form submission as well if needed.

Looks pretty good PJ...are you using FHS for now until submits get going? I like the header..nice look for the page..

I'm no link list owner but Ill tell ya what I think( * take with a lick of salt and a suck of lemon!)

I am a big fan of pages opening in a new window just to keep surfers on my site, but most of the link lists I have seen do not. There may or may not be a reason for this.

I think the banner is awesome... keep it for sure |headbang|

Now I don't know how much upkeep your willing to do BUT if it were me*
I would actually add more categories... just me though.

Finally one thing I would like to mention is that the feel and tone of your submission rules is somewhat "wishy washy"... kinda conveys the message to me that I can break your rules and submit crap to you!

I don't know about the banner..it's pretty big and takes up a lot of space, and it doesn't suggest porn or anything erotic from a visual perspective.

I like more categories, personally. On my site, I'm not overly fond of people leaving so I prefer links opening in a new window, but this can get confusing to a surfer...like you, I am not sure what's best here.

Overall, it looks good. I wouldn't hesitate to submit to you.

I used some, but also have clean sites from people around the board here. If you got clean free sites, let me know and i'll add then :)

Surfacing0325, I agree about trying to keep people on my site. But as for the rules, I know what you mean but I don't want to be too anal starting out and it will allow me to have open communication with submitters. That was my thought though.

LusciousDelight, I agree on the banner totally. Thats why I was thinking of making a new one. I like what I have now, but i'll just tweak it a bit to bring the "porn" into it.

Looks nice - you can add cats as you grow.

I just switched my LL to target=_blank and I think I'll leave it that way for a while and see what happens. Either way works for me.

I like the rules - it's your party play the way you like.

Many people see opening your links is a new window as a pop-up. Also most trades and traffic sources don't like it. Guess it's not really a fair trade if you still keep the surfer...:)
