Blogs on linklist-best way to present
Do you think it's best to have a section devoted to blogs or just list them in with the other sites depending on category. It seems most list are trending toward the latter but due to the way my script works, I could do the former much easier.

I don't think people looking for free porn galleries or freesites want to spend time reading blogs.
if someone likes the format of a blog they will hit the blog category. why confuse people? |

Today I received 13 uniques from my itty-bitty-LL on one of my blogs and only 1 hit from L-O-R same blog for the same period. Just my 2cents - Useless groups his in with the free and AVS sites too and I get consistent daily hits on the ones he's listed. |

I've surfed porn for years before I started peddling it and I sure as hell didn't know or care what you called the delivery format - but I sure as hell did stick to the niches that turned me on - and "blog" was not one of them. |
I agree with papa, think it's easier to list them in with other sites, you could always label them as blogs so surfers know. Starting a catagory just for blogs is a mess to me. Surfers want content they are into, not just any blog. Plus it could end up being one long list, too long. just my two cents.

I would never submit my blog index to a LL that mixed it in with free sites or galleries. The reason being is that eventually my blog will get pushed down and out of the traffic sweet spot as I can only submit it once where free site builders are submitting daily. In other words, my whole site gets the same treatment as a small free site. Now, as with UW's creation, I can submit individual daily posts, thats something else. I would hope that a LL owner who created a blogged porn category would eventually break that up into sub-categories as things grew and that my amateur blog would eventually end up in an amateur blog category |

walrus is dead on in his dissection of this category/niche do you also mix galleries with freesites? |
I would rather have my blog listed in a niche catagory, even if it is with free sites, rather than dumped in a list of blogs of many niches. First and foremost, it would be much more targeted traffic and a much more targeted linkback.
You run the risk of getting bumped down the list no matter where your blog is listed, be it a blog page or a niche, free site type page. I would say with the popularity of blogs these days and all the free hosted ones, you have a better chance of getting bumped down quicker on a catagory for all blogs compared to a niche catagory say where free sites are listed. Honestly I don't understand why you wouldn't want targeted traffic? A surfer going to a blog catagory could be looking for anything and good chance most won't be looking for your niche. Course it can also depend on your niche. If it's lesbian or the likes, then your going to have a tough time no matter where your listed. But say you make a pantyhose blog or say tattoo blog, if your listed on the blog page, probably few will end up visiting. But if your listed in a pantyhose or tattoo page, even with free sites, your going to get more visitors and better yet, your less likely to move down the list, away from the "sweet spot". Not like there are 100's of webmasters making those kinds of sites. I also don't understand why it's so bad to have blogs listed in with free sites, like it's a sin or something. So what? It's still porn content, and 99% of blogs still have pictures and or movie galleries, same as a free site. Actually the surfer is probably going to get more porn from a blog than a free site. The surfer doesn't care if it's a free site, a blog or a gallery, they are just looking for porn. Can't see surfers leaving your site because you listed a blog in with free sites. They come for the content, what formatt it's in is not some huge deal..:) The surfer is not required to read a blog, just because it's a blog.:) |
The other advantage of listing blogs in with free sites, for LL owners, is if they don't have a large number of submits, is they won't be sitting on empty blog categories waiting for niche blogs to be submitted.

Great answers, thanks.
A couple of things to consider, my list (and most others I've seen) tells what kind of site the link is: avs, paysite, freesite...etc in the description, so the surfer does know what kind of site it is assuming he/bothers to read the description and knows what the description means (might not be a valid assumption, but it's there). Also, I have the ability to use icons to for different types of sites, so there is some differentiation. Also a lot of excellent list mix freesites and avs sites together, so why not blogs? Having said all that I do like Walrus idea of having a seperate blog section in turn seperated by categories. |
I think best way to promote blogs is adultdigg.com x-digg.com etc.

I don't want to be the one who reveals the terrible secret, but as a link list owner, one of your goals is to get surfers back to your pages so they can click one of your links.
Some folks don't like listing blogs at all, or don't want to list them with free sites or galleries, because they want the surfers back on their own page as soon as possible. Sending someone off to look at one gallery page, or at four free site pages, is one thing. But sending a surfer off to a good blog can mean you've lost that surfer to another whole site packed with lots of pics and video clips and links to porn of all kinds. Better hope they bookmark your site before that happens. :) -- Note: This isn't directed to anything anyone said in this thread. It was just an important point that I didn't see being mentioned at all. (Particularly applies if you send surfers away from your link list without opening a new window.) |
