Good idea...bad idea?

I was thinking about making a small change to title of my site from "Luscious Delights" to "Luscious Porn Delights". The idea to get a keyword close to the front of the title. I have read that changing your title can fuck things up with Google...what do you think?

it will definitely change your google listings but its hard to say if it would be beneficial or not.

google will reindex you in time but since no one knows the algo you're taking a stab in the dark.

Don't see how it can hurt your rankings

hony 2008-02-26 02:14 AM

Depends what you are trying to rank for doesn't it.... If you want to rank for "Delights" it is going to hurt you -- but if you want to rank for "porn" it probably will have no effect given how hard that is to crack.

What Hony said is dead on.
I'd change it though. "Luscious Delights" sounds like a name for a dessert restaurant. A more smut oriented name like "Luscious Porn Delights" would be more clickable and memorable to our horndog friends.

Good point. That's another reason title and even meta description tag matter so much -- not for keyword placement but because G displays those fields in the SERP and people read them and make their decision to click or not click based on just that two or three lines of text.

Not sure what is wrong with sounding like a dessert restaurant though -- dessert is the most important meal of the day. :)

Yep, when I first started a while back, I liked the name but really didn't consider SEO as i should, so now when people are looking for a nice pastry, they get my site...things could be worse I suppose.

I did change to "luscious porn delights" so we'll see how it goes, and any other insights to changing the title appreciated. I don't know how G would react to too much experimentation. Thanks!
