Best Adult Trade Show To Learn ...
What is the best adult trade show or conference to learn? By that, I mean ones that have a lot of organized seminars on how to improve your websites and such. Thanks!

I hear Phoenix is very very good. XBiz in the summer I hear is good and I'll be attending that one this year. Vegas Internext as well has been good.
The HUGE thing is what you make the show. Arrange to meet with other webmasters and talk with sponsors you push to see what they might be able to do for you and such. The seminars are informative but a lot of it is more for newbies on many aspects. There are some that help anyone and everyone of course. |
Good call!
Xbiz Summer Forum will be my first show and im allready excited lol :) |
Xbiz summer by far. There are much more webmaster friendly seminars and it's a more user friendly venue, IMHO. But like Ramster said, it is what you make it.

I'm looking to go to quite a few this year and start to hone my skills and learn a lot from the seminars and the people there. Xbiz will be my big one that I hope to take away alot.

xbiz :)

I'm thinking about attending the XBIZ Summer conference this year because I've heard good things about it also. I wish I could have gone to the Phoenix Forum this year.
I've been to several Internext shows in Vegas over the years and have never really been too thrilled. I think they put more emphasis on the trade show, and not as much on the sessions. The trade show is great for networking, but I want to learn something in the seminars too. |
I wanna go to Xbiz this year :(

None of the shows are that great for learning.
What they are good for is making connections. Many seminars are full of people trying to sell the end webmasters on their products. If you want to meet good people and make connections I'd recommend smaller shows. If you want to party I'd recommend the larger shows. There are too many shows currently. I attended every show for a few years and didn't have enough time in the office to work on deals. I now only go to ones that are local, Internext in Florida, and 1 or 2 in LA. I do send Monica and/or Kevin to all the shows. I've heard good things about xbiz in Vegas, but I'll never go to Vegas in the summer. |

That aside, I really enjoyed the XBiz summer show I attended. You learn the most at shows by meeting face-to-face with other webmasters over a beer or two. |
Whenever I speak on a panel I make a point to actually teach something and give the others a heard time. If you ever see me listed on one you should go for the learning/comedic value a well.

The other thing that blows my mind is that even though hundreds of companies spend hundreds of dollars to send their affiliate managers to throw parties and buy drinks, 90% of them don't seem to care about speaking to affiliates, but instead just hang out with the other affiliate managers and the booth babes. Maybe it's because so few affiliates bother to attend the shows anymore? |huh (but some if us are still there!) |
so true, I spend a lot of time trying to break away from the cliques, but you really can't.
You end up being a victim to your popularity. That's why I hire new people and give them rules on splitting up and spreading out. |
Over the years I think Ive seen more learning at Cybernet Expo than anything I have attended. I agree typically panels have been more about people attempting to sell you some thing and a lot less on actual information.
I saw Hammer at each of these things break out a group of his clients and non clients and spend the afternoon exchaging ideas for FREE. Granted he is a consultant as am I but he isthe only one Ive ever seen to attempt to use one of those shows as a learning vehicle for free for anyone that was interested. |
Until you have been to ALL of the shows, it's not fair to chime in with who's "the best".
Hey docholly... been to cybernet expo? Hey Score Cash... Xbiz forum is 2 big shows away. |
Best show? That's one of those things that will vary individually, but FWIW, Cybernet Expo in June is the only upcoming show I'll be attending.
I'm also strongly considering the new Atlanta Forum in Sept. There are some Atlanta area peeps I'd like to meet face to face. |
I've never been to XBiz so I can't comment on that show....
But, in regard to learning.... what I can say is that Cybernet Expo is geared entirely towards the adult Internet crowd. It doesn't cater to the video people with no Internet presence. It's owned and operated by YNOT which most of you know was there when the adult Internet was started. So this is a webmaster show completely, and seminars keep that in mind. In terms of what James said re: value being in meeting people, we also keep THAT in mind... and gear the show towards keeping everyone in the same place as often as possible. Makes it kind of impossible NOT to do business that way. And for people who just like to have fun... some wicked parties planned this year. We also made sure to keep prices reasonable. The hotel we're using this year has rooms starting at $169 per night, which is considerably cheaper than any of the other shows I've attended this year. We do actually try to make sure you get ROI. So we'd love to see any of you there... if you're interested, check out the event's website and register online. |
