Average inbound traffic volume for TGP/MGP
I have heard many TGP owners say that their traffic converts anywhere from 1:2000 to 1:3000... my question is how much traffic does your average TGP take in for a given day or month?
I know it's not a great question because there's really no "average" TGP. Lets say your niche is semi-popular... it's not "big boobs" but it's not "Somali midgets with impeccable teeth". How much of a nightmare are you facing if you want to get 400-500,000 visitors per month? At this volume, are you going to need a dedicated server? I'd really appreciate any input you can offer. Like a lot of the others who post in this section, I'm pretty well-versed in non-adult webmaster kung-fu, but I'm totally lost when it comes to adult. Thanks! |
400K-500K a month is only 13K-16K per day, which is a fairly modest size for a semi-popular niche TGP. A decicated server probably isn't absolutely essential at that traffic level, but I would still recommend one anyway.
As for those conversion ratios, keep in mind that the 2000 to 3000 refer to the number of clicks to sponsor tours, not the number of visitors to the TGP. If you get 10% of your visitors clicking from the galleries on to the sponsor you're doing well. That means about 1 sale for every 20,000 to 30,000 visitors, or about 20-25 sales a month at 400K-500K visitors. |
Toby--
Responses like that are why I like this forum so much :) That was an eye-opener for a newbie like me. Thanks. At an average of $30 PPS, 25 sales a month is $750. Less the cost of a server and time required to keep the whole operation churning, it hardly seems worth the effort. I mean I have an adult blog that's doing over $600/mo on a $9.95/mo shared hosting plan and 25k uniques per month. Since not all traffic is created equal, I guess the math just isn't scalable. |

Think you just answered your own question. And your blog is probably much less time consuming than a tgp. Also wouldn't take much to boost the blogs traffic. Or you could start another blog or two, since you know how to do it. Rinse and repeat what works. |
Thanks ronnie, that certainly seems to be the formula. I have both a daily and a monthly income goal that I'd much rather reach with 2-3 sites than 12-15. I spoke with my affiliate manager at one of my sponsors and he said that his highest-grossing affiliates are making their cash with TGP/MGP sites, so I figured I should at least look into it.

Or if you have the best scripts and a big pocket full of cash...:) |

There are many variables to manage in regards to both, which involve things such as site design/layout, selection of gallery content, frequency of updates, selection of trade partners and the management of those trades. The most valuable piece of advice I rec'd as a newbie was this following simple statement: "Cutting your conversion ratio in half is the same as doubling your traffic." |
When your rep mentioned TGP/MGP sites was her referring to actually RUNNING a tgp or was he simply saying they are making it SUBMITTING to tgps? Two seperate worlds there. Hate to see you bite off more than ya need.
