Pros and Cons for paysite trials

Hi all, I'm considering adding a trial to my paysite 18closeup.com but I'm not shure if I should do it (my site is new and I only have 25 models, 100+ videos of which 60% are in HD) and how I should proceed ($1 trial, $4,90 trial, full access to videos or only to members section pages, rebill @ 29.90 or 39,90 etc etc). Please post your valuable insights...

A lot of it is trial & error (no pun intended) If you feel that your tour would convince a surfer to join the site at full price, then that's the way to go. But if you feel that a cheap trial would convince a surfer to join & then the members area would convince them to stay, try out the trials.

Or go with a mix on different tours - or offer them a trial off an exit console on the no trial tour.

Well I'm already converting at full price (1:293 over the last month, all affiliates' mean) but I've seen on your stats that some paysites convert 1:63 for trials, and this for LL!.

Greenie, If I PM you a login, could you tell me what YOU would try first? There are so much possibilities, I would prefer not to test them all...
Thanks!

If your affiliates are converting at or near 1:293 than do not ad trials. Why bother when the ratio is already fantastic? Adding trials will lower the conversions yes but at what cost. With your content amount inside you will lose money overall guaranteed. Do not add them when your ratio is good already and do NOT get caught up in someone's else's ratios whether it be some other pay site or an affiliate.

I have several pay sites and can tell you that a trial does improve ratios. I have some affiliates that do not like trials and turned them off and their ratios are higher than the norm but still good enough that they keep sending.

I'm doing my stats right now & there's one site that has a $1 trial that I'm 0:19,000 for the last 3 months. You're going to see every end of the spectrum if you look at my stats.

Then there's the overall money per member that you have to look at. Sure, a trial may convert better, but it's less money & if they cancel before they rebill, you've lost money.

Nah, I'm not the one to ask about that - I'm more of a tour kinda guy :)

I would love to make you earn money with those 19,000 :)
Could you consider adding my paysite on link-o-rama?

Thanks Ramster for your advise. I think you're right. After all, if it works, why fix it?

Why wouldn't you want to test them all? Only one way to know for sure. You could get a hundred opinions here, they are just that. What works for one person, might not work for another. Only testing will tell you for sure. Real testing, not, hey looks like this works.

I wish more affiliate programs tested.

they didnt work for us, we tried them many years ago, but for our affiliates we found that full price signups convert far better and give great retentions,

i guess it just works for some niches and not others.
