Why can't they choose the right category?

I don't understand why people can't chose the right category or don't take the time to chose the right category.

Example, had some one submit a rope bondage site, they picked bondage as the category, yet there is a rope bondage category and it's right there in the drop down, not like it's hard to find.

The more targeted your traffic is, the better chance you have of making sales, it's not rocket science.

Guess they are just being lazy.

Greenguy 2008-05-01 08:43 AM

I can't get them to stop submitting picture sites to a movie only link list :D

Fonz 2008-05-01 08:49 AM

For some reason all the teen solo freesite submits I get are submitted to my teen hardcore cat and the other way around. Maybe it's me.

Oddly enough, I'd not be surprised to see it submitted to any of those 4 categories...or threesomes :)

Linkster 2008-05-01 09:13 AM

Answer - because autosubmission software isnt that good at selecting since it cant see the pictures |jester|

Or maybe because it's not in their native language?

I know it's not a new subject, just amazing so many people can't get it right, isn't it? Lord knows I mess up some times, but when it's over and over and over and over and over and over...

Yeah, I notice that there are many of "evil" list and directory owner around who seem to think in the same way. Why is that? I mean usually it costs just one click to move a link to the right category. And is such maintaining work not part of the job? Sorry, if I ask dumb. I'm just a beginner. :)

|shocking| That would be me |shocking|

At least I don't email you later asking why it didn't get accepted..... I'm slow but I'm not a moron|loony|

papagmp 2008-05-01 05:17 PM

I don't give a fuck what cat they submit it to - I put it where I want it!

As a submitter, there are a few submit form that always screw me up - I'll never figure out why a script writer would "auto-fill" the cat

If you want to reduce cat errors, the first thing you need to do is make cat a required field and DO NOT auto-fill it with the first cat in your list. |banghead||banghead||banghead|

But then I'm the only webmaster working 20-hour days so I guess I'm the only one that misses these things.

Lemmy 2008-05-01 09:14 PM

Unless it's the same person that time and again, despite being told via email, submits to the wrong category I don't think it's such a big deal. Like Jim's post indicated not all choices are clear cut and like Papa I put it where I want it anyway.

Chronic offenders and autosubmitters will in time get rejected and eventually banned, but making it into a sport to put down submitters isn't my style.

ArtWilliams 2008-05-01 09:57 PM

You obviously need more categories in your link list. I think Greenie has covered off this one! Yes, I've had a couple of glasses of wine. |jester|

In all honesty, there are pros & cons about just moving it to the correct category:

Pros:
- trusted submitter
- you need sites in that category
- you know it was an honest mistake (one category above/below the correct one)

Cons:
- if you don't reject it, they'll keep making the same mistake
- it's a reason to decline a borderline site

Reviewers are such assholes :D

Me too. The only time I reject due to category is if the submitter repeatedly chooses a category which doesn't at all match their sites and I feel the need to let them know that I'm now frustrated with it. But I never reject a site if the category I would have preferred is an odd category, or a category that no other list may have, such as Interracial Wives. There's also the fact that many of us define certain categories differently than other reviewers, adding a little more confusion for submitters .

Anyone who submits knows what a pain in the ass the process is and that after a while, all of those words in the drop down list look the same. If the person is a regular submitter, it seems so petty to reject a site due to them mis-selecting the category.

Simon 2008-05-02 06:56 AM

I didn't look at the drop down menu on your submission form, Ronnie, but are the Bondage and Rope Bondage cats together in the list or are they listed alphabetically? It's possible that once someone sees Bondage they don't bother scrolling down to the "R" listings to find that there's also a Rope Bondage option. If your list is alphabetical, you might want to see if there's a way to change the order the categories are listed so you can wind up with more submitters choosing what you'd prefer they choose.

yeah you are right "it cost ust one click to move" if you have one submitter, now think of the facted if you have a couple of 100s submitters sumitting to the wrong cat, submitters just have to take their time to what cat they submit too, it isnt that hard and if you realy dont know, ask some others first:) and yep ofcourse my famous line..........i do make exceptions for the ones i know, those i will move:D

Hey, I understand what you mean. :) It's just the tone sometimes. And even that is no wonder. There are so many people outthere who refuse to learn anything and expect that you fix everything for them.

ronnie 2008-05-02 10:27 AM

Of course this is about constantly submitting to the wrong category, or how often it happens, it's not about putting down submitters, not even close. And ya my particular drop down, the bondage cat's are all together, you can't miss them when you go to pick, that's why it really doesn't make sense.

Another example are those that put everything in hardcore even though it's a blowjob or a milf site. They are not smart enough to know or realize most every LL has a blowjob or milf category, or bother to check?

Sure a reviewer could move it, it does only take a second to move it, but it also only take a second to choose the right one in the first place. Not to mention, if you'd like a link back to the given category.

I realize speed is of the essence when submitting sites, I've submitted my fair share over the years. But, why wouldn't you take the time to choose the right category? Maybe I'm odd, but I always make sure to pick the most relevant category, often double check the choices.

And, yes it does get old quick when it's done over and over.

Jesse U. 2008-05-02 11:53 AM

Stupid Question, what category would you consider this site to be in?
http://babesbistro.com ?

ronnie 2008-05-02 12:27 PM

Seems a few people are getting the wrong message about this thread. It was not to pick on or make sport of submitters. It was not about sites that are tough to decide what is the best category or ones that fall in between. I was talking about the obvious. I should have made it more clear. Maybe I used a poor example.

Maj. Stress 2008-05-02 09:33 PM

I think some of the problem could be the mindset of the submitter when they submit. If I'm submitting an amateur site, I am looking for the amateur category. On some lists there might be other options for amateur but I'm focused on 'amateur'. I just figured out that one list I submit to regularly has an amateur movie cat. I've been submitting them to amateur for a couple of months now. |crazy|

papagmp 2008-05-02 11:54 PM

As a submitter, if my submits are in the wrong cat, it's cuz:

1. I hit the submit button before I selected the cat - I'm very dyslexic so it I'm in a hurry, inverse the steps (more often than I like to admit). I appreciate the submit forms that tell me I fucked up.

2. I selected the wrong cat because, as Maj Stress says "I'm focused on 'amateur'" cat and forgot you have a 'amateur' movies cat.

3. I'm tired of making 137 "teen" recip tables because you have the teen cat broken into 137 sub cats and want a cat-recip on every FS.

4. I've been trying everything I can to get on your ever-so-popular "blacklist".

5. I was getting a great blowjob while I was submitting and was thinking about giving her a "gooey facial" - and you just happened to have "Gooey Facials" on your cat list. |blowjob|
