Who uses purchased content for FS?
 

There was another thread about purchased content being preferred over sponsor provided content as a means of building galleries for freesite.

It got my curiousity up...who all uses purchased (non-sponsor) content. And if you do, does it really increase conversions?

(please don't spam me with content providers....yet...:) )

All of my best submitters (those with the best sites) use sponsor content. Those who use purchased content rank amongst my worst. (Cheap shit) It's a waste of money to purchase your own content in an effort to please the 2 or 3 link lists that prefer not to list sponsor content. Don't worry about people who are out of touch with the current profit expectations of the free site.

I wouldn't worry about it either. I use purchased content only because I have a lot of it and I can promote my own sites with it when I want to. But hey, my sites suck ;)

purchased might be best served for AVS AEN sites perhaps?

I've bought a lot of content for my freesites, and I still do, but I try and mix it with sponsor content. Recently, I've been using a lot more sponsor content.

I actually get more concerned that the content I purchase is overused. I guess I'm worried that there are a lot more sponsors to choose from than affordable content providers.

I'm fairly sure that conversions are better using sponsor content, although I do like the freedom that using your own content brings.
I say fairly sure because the numbers definately do look better, but with a freesite using purchased content I don't promote a single sponsor as aggresively, and I use up lots of those outgoing links for hubs, cam sites, etc.

I'm using mainly bought content but I can't really say if its raising conversion ratios since I use sponsors content only for niches I can't find cheap enough content. Sometimes I'm wondering if my content is not overused but from what I'm seeing I'm getting at least the same SU ratios as other members of this board so I think it's ok. I think sponsors content is getting overused way faster anyway

I used to use only purchased content but lately I find myself submitting sites with sponsor content more and more since it's obviously the best content to promote the paysite with...

like Fonz & KG Gary, when I first started out I only used purchased content, but moved into sponsor content. It's impossible or ridiculously expensive to find content that exactly matches some of the paysites I promote, especially since I use mostly video now.

I do have a lot of purchased content though, and continue to buy it, because sometimes it's nice to have stuff you can use to promote your own sites, or use in other ways.

I really haven't noticed a huge difference in conversions between sponsor/bought content, but there are sites I wouldn't be promoting if I had to use only my own content.

Thanks for all the answers. I guess content can suck regardless of whether you buy it or use sponsor content. Content is tricky, at least for me. Some content that looks like complete shit to me sells ok, while some of the best content i have found gets me 0:4000 ratios.

As Jester mentioned, it might be good for avs sites, and I am working on a design for a new linklist which I will most likley buy some content to use in the design. I was thinking mainly of freesites, though.

when i still made free sites, i started to use bought content (stu<---still have alot of content left to use), the benefiet of bought content is, when you wanna change a sponsor on your free site or a sponsor goes dead its easy to just "only" change the sponsor links to an other sponsor, if you use sponsor content you have to remove all ( or just what cleo and some others had last time, the sponsor first gave permission to use the content and later pulled it back) and since there are alot of adultwebmasters you see the same sponsor content alot. Which you dont have with quality bought content. I say if you buy content then buy content you hardly see around, i would not buy hardcore content, but i would buy for special niches or micro niches.

90% of our content stored to download hasn't been used anywhere.

I use purchased content in freesites only to promote the AVS sites that were built with the same content since you cannot submit AVS everywhere that you can with a freesite ;)

It depends on what I want to do.
If its a basic FS I would ordinarily use sponsor content but i do build with paid content as well if the niche matches. It all depends on how I want to market what I'm promoting at the time and whether I am building for myself or to submit.

I use both sponsor/bought content and see no difference in sales either way. As long as my sites are not getting turned down for over used content I'll stick to a mixture of both. The only problem I've run into with bought content is certain content is hard to find or to expensive.

Buy 200-300 pics, make a premium AVS site, build 3-4 fs's promoting the AVS site and whatever else you have that needs traffic, then build a bunch of galleries promoting your AVS site.
For $50-$60 you've got a mini-network that gives you recurring income.

Every link list that actually matters accepts sponsor content. I think that link lists preferred purchased content back when most sponsors only gave out a handful of content from each set and everyone was showing the same stuff on their sites.

Most conversions come from your warning and main pages anyhow so buying content to bump up your gallery conversions wouldn't be worth it even if they did convert better in my opinion.Your better off just working on your sales text etc.

I'm surprised that some of that purchased content isn't downright banned by bigger lists! Surfers deserve better then that early 80's cheap bullshit and webmasters pushing that garbage should be ashamed of themselves.I mean,is a cheap bitch looking like she came out of a bad episode of threes company even porn at this point? I understand teasing the surfer but thats just saying FUCK YOU!

I guess Ill step in since it was probably a comment I made that started the question

1. Some LLs - especially the larger ones - see 5-10 free sites every day using exactly the same sponsor content promoting the exact same sponsor - so they put a rule in to give them a reason to only accept 1 of those free sites
2. Im one of those that thinks you get better conversions on a free site if you do use bought content - of course some of the comments here make me think that people are buying $5 bargain sets instead of spending the money to get worthwhile sets - that match the niche you are submitting for
3. Stu is absolutely correct in that there have been sponsors in the past that have issued sets or given content away - and then decided a year later that they dont want their content out there - and have pulled it back and people have lost numerous listings because of it - latest case I can remember was a mod here - Cleo
4. Sponsor content that matches a reality site or something like Brazzers is great - unfortunately the conversions suck because of the widespread exposure in the TGP and Tube world - so why would a free site submitter even bother with pushing a site that converts 1:2000 or worse - seems to me that the best returns on a free site are still (and this is based off of free sites I submitted 6 and 7 years ago) the micro niche sites that convert in the 1:100 - 1:500 range

Seems to me if you are going to spend the time every day submitting and creating free sites (of course this doesnt matter to people that do the copy/paste routing with auto submitters) - why not get something out of it??

I pay for all the content I use - my fuckin sponsor is so cheep all he wants to do is fuck your naughty sister :D

But seriously, you've all heard me preach how I strongly believe that the freesite (blog, gallery, etc..) content should match the tour and the tour content should match the members area content. IMO, sales are higher, charge-backs are lower, and renewals are more frequent when the customer really gets what's being advertised.

I wasn't in the marketing end of the business in the 80's but I was a moderate porn consumer - as a consumer, I hate it when the content on a site is the same content that I saw in a magazine 10-or-more years ago. I never even give the site or it's adds a second glance.

Now - back to finding naughty sisters.........

So what do you use for content then? there is enough good quality content around but yeah you have to pay a price and if you do look good around on the net, you find even good quality content for a bargain, hell the prices now are not to compair with the prices for content years ago.....

Although I do tend to build more TGP galleries then free sites lately, I use bought content about 98% of the time. Since I promote my AVS sites almost exclusively, I use the content I bought to build the AVS sites with.

Free sites I can't remember the last time I built one with sponsor content, it has been a long time. I always hope the content I have bought and use isn't saturated, but then again, I pay good money for alot of it and don't buy stuff at the buy 100 sets for $5 sites anymore, lol. |thumb

I use whatever sponsor content I'm advertising for.I don't have the greatest sales writing or graphics skills but I try my best to let surfer know that he's at a site for (random example) cum fiesta from the time he enters to the time he leaves.If I just used my own cumshot content in the galleries,he would just be thinking about a girl getting a facial.That's no good.I want him to be thinking about a girl from CUM FIESTA getting a facial! If webmasters want to use quality purchased content,thats great and stuff but wouldn't sponsor content from the actual site your promoting be a better way to showcase your product? I'm no advertising guru or anything but using sponsor content just makes more sense.
