Advertising Query

I have had a request to advertise on one of my sites and I have no idea how much to ask (or whether to bother)

Here are the most recent stats
Avg Max
Hits per Hour 4320 7761
Hits per Day 103689 131902
Files per Day 95040 121495
Pages per Day 16694 21097
Visits per Day 5306 6633

Any suggestions as to what advertising rates should be would be appreciated. I am not interested in tracking hits or click throughs or whatever

That's why I stopped doing prepaid ads - it was too much of a hassle making sure I was sending what I was expected to send & trying to figure out how much a category page should go for each month.

That being said, if you really interested in doing it, figure out what your making per day/week/month/whatever with the ad spots & then add 10% (and I say 10% because it sounds like a nice number :))

Thanks Greenie but I don't really know what you mean. I have no idea what I am making as I have never sold ad spots before and also have no idea what sort of income is generated from any specific page on the site (haha, still a newbie!!)

I was hoping that there might be someone out there in GG&Jim land that sells or buys ad spots that might have an idea of what they are going for for that amount of traffic. It's not like there is a lot of traffic there but obviously enough for this person to want to pay for a link. Who am I to say no!!

Oops! I tend to forget that I'm one of the few geeks that does in-depth stats that take weeks & weeks to compile :D

I'm going to bed now, but what kind of site are they going to advertise on (link list, tgp, blog, etc), what pages on the site (all, category specific, etc), what kind of ads (text, banners [sizes], flash, etc), duration of the ads (week, month, year)

Based on that & the numbers above, someone might be able to help you before I get back here tomorrow. If not, I'll give you my best guess :)

You could take a look around some of the paid ad placement brokers to get a feel for what other sites are charging.

I bought an ad for my "mainstream info site" for sales of my BBW sized jewelry and bags. I pay 50.00 a month for the banner spot and the site owner gets the ebay sales referral. I always know when its a sale from that site (besides my ebay store stats) when my 7.5" handcuff bracelets sell.

For example: I have a TGP that someone wants to buy an ad spot. So I put them in one of the top 5 links for the day. Easy way to do it is for a week (unless you have a high traffic site that will consistently send several sales daily). If YOU were to put a hosted gallery or one of your own in the same top 5 links spot for a week how many sales would YOU make? That's roughly what you charge plus 10% like Greenguy said.

Link List? They want a banner on top of page? How many sales would you make with a banner in that spot? Charge that plus 10% like Greenguy said.
