How long does it take you to create a gallery?

It seems to take me quite a long time to create galleries - selecting the pictures/cutting the video clips, creating the thumbnails, text on the page etc and I don't seem to get much productivity out of the day.

I was just wondering how long on average it takes you guys to create a gallery and do you see better results from picture or video galleries?

But back to your question. When youre just starting out it seems it takes forever to everything including galleries. Youll get quicker and better with time.

Myself I take about 1/2 an hour from grabbing images to adding linking codes to FTP'ing the gallery to the server. Thats not using a template for the same sponsor's site. When using a template I can probaly knock out 2 in that time.

To create from scratch a gallery might take 15-30 mins depending on how complicated I make it and how much I borrow from previous templates. Once the template is made I can make a new gallery in a few mins by selecting the pics and running some scripts to resize/thumbnail them and maybe tweak the text if it's a unique set or i want to try something new. However I've been doing this awhile now and an quick with html and the keyboard. Your mileage may vary.

Thanks guys, I guess once I do have a few 'template' pages I can re-use them just changing the images and text and that will cut a chunk of time off. The trouble is deciding whether pic or vid galleries are better to do, for solo sites I'd imagine pictures but for hardcore sites wouldn't videos entice them more to get their wallet out?

I have wondered the same and would be interested in what's working for people. For me, movies seem to do better. I will spend a lot more time doing a gallery with 8-10 video clips that I would 30 pics...usually and hour or more on movie galleries, mainly due to the fact that I usually cut free content up a lot and do a fair amount of editing when I download movie content from sponsors, and this adds to the time.

I think there was a time when pictures did better due to bandwidth restrictions, but I don't think that's the case now.

It took me forever to build sites at first.OCD mixed with me turning everything into some big art project always got the best of me.|loony|
These day's I can make one in about 10-20 minutes from scratch and takes about 15 minutes to submit them.

Damn, that's quick. I think I need to speed up a bit...

Don't get me wrong Luscious,theres day's were I'm a free site building machine,but then theres those day's when it takes me hours to come up with a design or sales pitch.Also,I suck at SEO so I don't spend a lot of time on it.I add titles,keywords and descriptions to my pages obviously but I don't write huge amounts of keyword text onto my pages or content.

I found a few free sites over at your link list that I'm assuming you built and it looks like you have pretty good SEO skills. It may take you a bit longer to complete your free sites but I bet your going to receive far more search engine traffic then me.

With PS batch control and a template i am usually making a gallery in about 5min's.

Freesites though, they need a bit more luving.. :P
