Anybody With A Blog Linking To Free Sites
Most of the blogs I have seen have a write up and then a pic which links to a gallery or a tour. I am thinking about doing free sites again and I was wondering you use a blog to promote your free sites (rather than use a hub or link list). Is it working for you? Thanks.

I'm running into the same problem I've had with blogs before, though - updating them regularly. You'd think it would be an easy thing just to add the writeup after building the freesite, but I keep falling behind :( I actually have some time scheduled this wkend to update it I hope lol. I haven't promoted it much yet, so I can't really say how well it will work. I will say that one of my concerns is that I promote a variety of niches, so I don't know if straight surfers will be turned off seeing a gay link when they first come to the site, or if it will be like a link list with all niches in there anyway. I'm basically trying to get SE traffic there, which right now accounts for about half the traffic to it even without me updating it like I should be, so I have high hopes! :D |
I use them, every my free sites ended in blog post on same niche blog, or on some I add cople of them in sidebar

I'm going to just throw this out there and perhaps get a little discussion going but I think your doing it backwards.
Why not use the blog as your hub and link to it from your freesites? If your doing multiple niche's setup categories and link into the categories from you freesite. Then you can use one of the galleries you built for your freesite within your post. This would give your blogs some nice juicey IBL's with rich relevant text surrounding the link |
I think maybe that is what I had in mind. I am thinking of an outbound free site link to my blog AND a write on my blog about my latest free site. That way I get two way traffic.

Also doing something similar Art , I use the blog as a hub for the freesites/galleries writing keyword rich drivel about each fs/gal :D
Too early to tell how its going , but I reckon that once it gets PR then the se traffic should pick up. |
Personally, I really don't think it's efficient to link from the blog to the freesite since your linking from one sales pitch to another (assuming your linking the index and not your warning)
Mostly I'm lazy and just use a FHG to link to but on galleries I've actually built to go along with my blog post I link directly to the join page. I figure I've hooked them, shown them more of what they were looking for it's time to see if I can get a CC. |

I agree - the last few times I linked to my FS from my blog - I linked directly to the content page(s) of the FS, (like here) not to the index or the main page. I often create "short tours" with just two to four modules for the same reason (like this example) |
I just today created a blog on my AVS hub where I put all my tgps promoting my AVS sites. I link to it from some of the tgps, and a few of the avs sites, plus I figure if a surfer wants to remove all the sub folders and look at the base domain, maybe I'll sell them on joining one of the sites.
I've been meaning to do something like that that lists updates to my sites, and have been working on it for what feels like 47 hours staight. |loony| I agree with Walrus though, linking a blog to freesites that link to sponsors maybe a bit long of a chain of links. At least linking to my AVS sites, that is something the surfer can just sign up for. |
