Movie Standards for submits
 

I am thinking about adding some submit requirments for the movie submits

like 4 movies at least 30 to 45 secs in length

and I figured I should get some opinions from other list owners and submitters

anyone wanna sound off ??

I think the standard rule with Link Lists & Free Sites is 120 seconds total with 60 seconds per page & 10 seconds minimum per movie. This give the submitter a lot of options as far as the number of movies:
6 10 sec
5 12 sec
4 15 sec
3 20 sec
2 30 sec
which means you can do a lot with gallery layouts to avoid the dreaded "overused template" problem.

I've been doing four 20 second movies per page or five 17 second movies for the places that require 5 movie minimum per page.

Cleo - do those 5 movie minimum places have a minimum time rule - both total & per movie - as well?

It is actually a shemale TGP that seems to count amount of movies but not length.

My free site gallery layouts are also used for TGPing so I've tried to come up with gallery layouts that can be used for both.

I've experimented with using two, three, four, five, and six movies per galleries. Personally I prefer three longer movies but this doesn't seem to fly with many TGPs.

my movie submits are a little flooded and i would love to knock em down a bit

I like the 1 minute per gallery rule. Personally I like to stick to at least 20 or 30 second clips or longer.

Your grammar is horrendous - if you were a submitter, I'd ban you :D

If litits= limits then I'd say 3 or 4 years. I don't think too much has changed as far as free sites with movies, and I don't do anything with galleries, so I have no idea what TGP's are doing these days as far as movies.

I used to build a lot of sites with 20 second movies, a minimum of 30 sounds a bit high to me.

30 seconds is high for a clip on a movie gallery. 15-20 seconds is normal so maybe maybe make 20 seconds minimum as a requirement. 3-4 seems normal so again go on the high side at 4 clips. That'll mean 4 20 second clips gives the surfer almost a minute and a half in clips on the gallery. Free sites are usually higher I believe.

I've been doing gallery submits of 4 clips 15-20 seconds or 3 clips at 25-30 seconds for the past 5 years with no problems. Some webmasters want the 4 clip min while others tolerate the 3 clip min but a longer run time.

I mostly just do galleries anymore, and when I submitt I use no less than 4 clips with 20 to 30 seconds of video

on my LL I like to see 20 seconds per clips, 10 to 15 second clips should be mothballed who the hell wants to see a page with 6 10 sec clips I sure don't and dont even watch the others on the page after 1

for free sites I think 160 total seconds of video should be standard

on my tgp I like to see a min of 4 movies atleast 20 sec

Just out of curiosity, what's the recommended aspect ratio? Is 320x240 still the standard? Or should the clips be bigger? 400x300?

Personally I like the current rules that Greenie uses - and for all the same reasons.

I only get a few movie submits, but I like to see at least 60 seconds total and at least 3 clips, so 3 x 20 sec. or 4 x 15 sec, etc.

That said, if the content is really good and also well targeted for the selected niche I'm far more likely to let those requirements slide a little.

Just for clarification, are you saying you want more picture galleries and less movie galleries or are you saying the galleries themselves are giving away too much content with longggggg movies and that's what you would love to knock down?

I played around with it and have settled on 4 per page, 20-24 seconds each. Most list seem to like it...no problems so far. Personally I do not like to make them any longer. Longer movies available in the members section...:)

Greenies, standards seem to be right on... the 60 second rule seems to fly in most places. I myself like to use 4 clips @ 20 seconds - but have had no real trouble getting accepted using 6 clips @ 15 seconds - and just as was mentioned, some only check # of clips not so much time...with that said.. Shemp just put into play.. 1 clip @ 1 minute to test the waters.

Tommy - min 3 clips around 20 secs is the standard for galleries that I have seen - I usually use 3 or 4 clips depending on the template - and anywhere from 20-30 sec clips
Anything bigger than that and you are providing way too much - which is the same reason the tubes are hurting the biz so bad with their full 1 and greater minute clips

I'd say 3 20 sec clips is good enough for a gallery, but what do I know...

I actually submitted 5 of those galleries to him to test what they Would do, so far, not much :)

Speaking of TGP rules...

Krawl has banned animated gifs.

I would concur...but that's because 90% of the galleries I've built are precisely that size.
